The CMA CGM Group Is Committed to Sustainable Development as Well as Environmental Preservation for Reforestation and Tree Planting in Brazil

As a global leader in transportation and logistics, the CMA CGM Group announced this week that it will promote global reforestation. About 110,000 trees will be planted in 12 countries, with the initial goal of regenerating the environment and supporting the development of local communities in terms of nature.

The Development of the CMA CGM Group Project

To start, CMA CGM has decided to plant 7,000 trees of local native species in southeastern Brazil. Partnering with the Associação Nordesta Reflorestamento e Educação, a project has been developed dedicated to the conservation of tropical forests and the improvement of the quality of life for the rural population. The focus of the project is to regenerate the forest ecosystems of the state of Minas Gerais, initially. This global reforestation initiative undoubtedly boosts the balance of environmental, social, and economic benefits.

In addition to Brazil, 11 more countries will experience the benefits of this project, including Canada, the United States, Peru, France, Romania, Morocco, India, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, and New Zealand. Among the benefits are: minimizing the impacts of deforestation, planting trees to promote the regeneration of essential soils and ecosystems, and bravely assisting in the preservation of biodiversity.

Some members of the CMA CGM team will have the opportunity to participate in plantings in some of the countries. The task force will be conducted in partnership with PUR PROJET, a partner of the Group.

Established in Brazil since 2003, the CMA CGM Group employs over 660 staff, in addition to connecting the country to the world through 11 types of services provided each week.
