Macaé Flotel Petrobras

A floating hotel at sea, “flotel”, as it is called, currently accommodates 500 workers who work on Petrobras platforms in Macaé.

Macaé has a floating hotel in the sea surrounded by luxury for workers, the flotel that accommodates 500 professionals who provide services to Petrobras, belongs to a Dutch company OOS International and has already served the P-31 platform. It now serves the P-58 (at the time of the InterTV report, it was servicing the P-48), which is about 130 km east of Macaé and 85 km southeast of Farol de São Thomé, in Campos dos Goytacazes. Petrobras extends contract with Seadrill for drilling services.

According to those responsible for the floating hotel, it is among the company's most modern units in Brazil. The structure has six floors and has a cinema, games room, gym and air conditioning in all environments to provide the workers with great comfort. go by helicopter.

Leendet Sprei, national manager of OOS, informed that “The Petrobras units no longer have places for people to sleep and eat. So they rent a flotel to stay there day and night and work on the units”.

To keep the structure firm, 30 liters of diesel are spent per day. The fuel is enough for 278 trucks to travel between Rio and São Paulo, a distance of 431 km. Diesel is supplied by Petrobras.

The flotel technology developed in China and used by the Dutch company also includes a concern for sustainability

“The unit has some sewage treatment stations and water treatment stations”, says José Márcio Vidal, manager of the flotel, adding that the site has desalination units.

In total, 150 liters of seawater are treated per day, which are turned into drinking water and supply the floating hotel.
