UFMA Opens This Tuesday (06), Through Sisu More Than 2,000 Vacancies for Free Courses

The Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA) published early this Tuesday (06) the opening of vacancies for free undergraduate courses through the Unified Selection System (Sisu) 2021. Applications for the free courses for the first semester, which started this Tuesday (06), will be open until Friday (09), and must be made through the Sisu website. For this selection, UFMA is offering 2,493 vacancies distributed among 62 free courses at the campuses of Bacabal, Chapadinha, Imperatriz, Pinheiro, and São Luís.

It is important to note that if not selected, candidates for UFMA’s free courses who wish to continue competing in Sisu 2021.1 must, as a requirement, express their interest in participating in the Waiting List in Sisu and, shortly after, confirm their interest in the vacancy on the UFMA website.

Registration Process for Free Course Vacancies at UFMA

To compete for these vacancies in the first call of UFMA, candidates must exclusively use the results obtained in the 2020 National High School Exam (Enem) at the time of registration.

Candidates are required to apply for up to two options of vacancies and specify their order of preference. They can choose to compete for open vacancies or those reserved for affirmative action policies, the quotas. However, it is not allowed to apply for more than one modality of competition at the same institution.

UFMA is also offering an Open Competition category with a 20% bonus on the score for all students who completed the 9^th grade of elementary school and three years of high school in public schools in Maranhão.

It is important to remember that students cannot compete for vacancies reserved under Law 12,711/2012 and also request the bonus of an additional 20%, as the MEC resolution does not allow the accumulation of affirmative action policies.

Candidates called for pre-registration must present the basic and specific documentation (according to each category) in the UFMA system between April 15 and 19.

For the first time, the University will offer 40 vacancies in the Bachelor of Arts – Libras course at the São Luís Campus. To compete for these vacancies, candidates must select this option when registering.

In this edition, the Federal University of Maranhão will only use the Unique Registry for Federal Government Social Programs (CaDÚnico) for analyzing and verifying candidates’ income who choose to compete for vacancies in the low-income subcategories. It is necessary for competitors to seek the Social Assistance Reference Center (Cras) to register or update their entry in the CadÚnico.
