Ultracargo And Dislub Start Bunker Operation at Suape Port, Expanding Market Advantage for the Maritime Sector in Pernambuco, with 40,000 m³ of Storage.

The companies Ultracargo and Dislub, known for their work in the logistics and energy sectors, have begun a new bunker operation at Suape Port. This strategic move aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the Pernambuco maritime terminal, a crucial point in national and international trade. The new bunker operation makes Suape even more attractive for commercial routes, facilitating vessel traffic and optimizing its stops.

With a storage capacity of 40,000 m³, Ultracargo and Dislub provide a robust solution for the maritime fuel supply market. The advantages of having an efficient bunker operation at the port include the provision of marine fuel oil, essential for long-distance navigation. Moreover, the new unit meets the fuel demand of vessels more quickly and safely, reinforcing the leadership position of Pernambuco in the maritime sector.

Bunker Operations at Suape Port

A new partnership has been established to carry out bunker operations at Suape Port, located in the Recife Metropolitan Region (PE). This partnership, which is already operational, involves the use of marine fuel oil for the maritime supply of vessels.

The new service offers a notable market advantage for companies in the maritime sector. With this mode of supply, the weight previously designated for fuel transportation can now be used to carry more cargo. This adjustment allows for a significant cost savings and optimization of vessel trips.

This innovation in the bunker service elevates the competitiveness of the Pernambuco terminal and benefits the entire production chain, from shipping companies and logistics to the end consumer. The service includes four tanks, each with a capacity of 10,000 m³, totaling 40,000 m³ of storage capacity, supplied by Ultracargo.

Transportation and Supply at Suape Port

The fuel is pumped directly from Ultracargo’s terminal at Suape Port to a barge located at Liquid Bulk Pier (PGL) 1. After this initial phase, the vessel is ready to refuel another vessel alongside.

The bunker operation was officially announced last Friday (30), during a ceremony at the Suape Administrative Center. Among those present were representatives from Ultracargo, such as Helano Pereira Gomes, Executive Vice President; Fernando Dihel, Executive Director of Business Development; and Marlos Tavares, Commercial Executive Director; as well as representatives from Dislub, such as Humberto Carrilho, shareholder; Leonardo Cerquinho, Director of Business Development; and Antonio Barbará, head of Marine Fuels. Also attending the event were Marcio Guiot, president of the port, and other sector authorities, in addition to port market stakeholders.

‘The partnership established with Dislub will certainly contribute to the strategic positioning of Suape in the national market.’, emphasized Helano Pereira, Executive Vice President of Ultracargo. He added that the new business aligns with the pursuit of innovation and operational excellence, which are essential for the sustainable growth of the company, and with plans to diversify the service offering, reinforcing the competitive potential of Brazil.

Impact of the New Bunker Service

According to Leonardo Cerquinho from Dislub, the new operation arises to meet a market need. ‘Due to the location and the concentration profile of Suape Port, there is a natural demand for bunker. The new operation will meet this demand with quality and efficiency, strengthening our presence in the sector’, he stated.

Marcio Guiot, at the helm of Suape, sees the bunker operation as an additional attraction to consolidate the port as an important cargo distribution center in the Northeast and North of the country. ‘We hope to attract new clients and companies, generating more jobs and further consolidating our port as a logistics hub of reference in Brazil’, he pointed out.

Ultracargo and Its Integrated Solutions

Ultracargo, a company providing integrated logistics solutions, handles various types of fuels and chemicals. With a static capacity of over 1 million cubic meters, the company has liquid bulk terminals in several regions of Brazil, connected to multiple modes of transportation, such as road, rail, waterway, and pipeline.

Ultracargo’s terminals are located in Rondonópolis (MT) and the Ports of Santos (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Aratu (BA), Suape (PE), Itaqui (MA), and Vila do Conde (PA). The company also has a 50% stake in Opla, which operates an ethanol terminal in Paulínia (SP).

With nearly 60 years of history, Ultracargo is part of Ultra, one of the largest business groups in Brazil, leading the liquid bulk storage sector in the country. For more information, visit Ultracargo’s website.

The Role of Dislub in the Fuel Sector

The Dislub Equador Group is the sixth-largest fuel distributor in Brazil, with operations in the North, Northeast, and Central-West regions. The group has around 450 gas stations and also operates port terminals and land bases, totaling approximately 150,000 cubic meters.

Pioneering in liquid terminal infrastructure in the North and in the marketing of fossil fuels with reduced carbon emissions through DuraMais fuels, Dislub maintains an innovative profile, now with the new operation at Suape Port.

Sustainable Growth at Suape Port

Founded 45 years ago, the Suape Industrial Port Complex is one of the largest development hubs in Northeast and Brazil, attracting large enterprises in its production chains. Located 40 kilometers from Recife, it occupies an area of 17,300 hectares, with 59% included in the Ecological Preservation Zone (ZPEC).

Since its inauguration, Suape has attracted 74.5 billion reais in private investments, housing over 80 companies that generate more than 20,000 jobs. It is the sixth largest public dock in Brazil for cargo operations, leading in cabotage and liquid bulk transportation, and is the main mover of containers in the region.

Additionally, the port’s vehicle hub is the largest in the North/Northeast, moving 80,647 vehicles in 2023. In the previous year, Suape handled a total of 23,982,296 million tons. Its strategic location and modern infrastructure allow for agile operations, functioning continuously throughout the year, which reinforces its cargo concentration profile and competitive potential.
