Porto do Açu inaugurated this Wednesday (8) another warehouse at the Multicargo Terminal (T-MULT), the second to start operating.
In the current phase of terminal expansion, two new covered warehouses will be inaugurated, totaling three warehouses, increasing the static storage capacity four times to 110 tons and doubling the terminal's bonded area to 360 m². Rogério Zampronha, CEO of the Prumo holding; Jose Firmo, CEO of Porto do Açu; and Jean Cintra, CFO of Lundin Mining Brasil, attended the event.
The new warehouse has an area of 6.800m² and has a static capacity of approximately 45.000 tons. It will serve to meet the export operations of copper from Goiás, a strategic mineral that will help in the energy transition. These operations were implemented in partnership with Lundin Mining Brasil and will optimize cargo import logistics costs, as they will balance the export-import flow to Goiás.
The new warehouse, with an area of 7.600m² and static capacity of approximately 40.000 tons, will be inaugurated in the first half of 2023 by T-MULT. This initiative aims to serve mainly the markets of Minas Gerais, Goiás and Espírito Santo, contributing to the national supply of fertilizers.

Porto Açu is the most efficient logistics alternative to increase the competitiveness of industries and agribusiness in the Southeast and Midwest, with a much shorter waiting time for clients to berth than the average of other ports in the country, according to José Firmo, CEO from the Port of Açu.
The expansion of the Multicargo Terminal (T-MULT) is one of the factors that indicate the success of the partnership signed between Lundin Mining and Porto do Açu. The CEO of Lundin Mining, Ediney Drummond, comments that the company's objective is to continue working in a sustainable way and make progress like this possible.
Through the recent expansions carried out in the infrastructure, the T-MULT has contributed to leverage the development paved by the expectation of growth of the Brazilian agro. These include a covered warehouse for special loads with 25.000 tons of static capacity, enabling the first imports of fertilizers to be carried out, as well as the construction of a new yard in partnership with Minas Gusa.
With an area of 35 m², this focuses on import of solid fuels for the steel and cement industries. In addition, due to the large available area and flexibility offered by the Port of Açu, the T-MULT has the potential for more future expansions, such as extending the berth and increasing the yard and storage areas.
