The Images Of This Petrobras Unit Were Shared On Social Media Today By Workers Who Are In Nearby Operations
Images of the P-19 platform of Petrobras circulating on social media today (21) show the unit leaning (or in technical terms “list”) in a well-pronounced manner, which caught the attention of many people, especially relatives of friends who saw the post. The publication was shared by the page Notícia Macaé.
Petrobras stated in a note to the media: “Around 12 p.m. this Saturday (21), during a stability maneuver, an accidental tilt of the platform occurred. The situation was quickly normalized and the P-19 is in a safe condition, with no damage to people or the environment”. However, according to close sources, all workers have been evacuated and only the ballast team addressed the unit’s listing, indicating that the operational incident is already under control. In August Of This Year, A Break Of Moorings Occurred At This Same Oil Platform
According to the Oil Workers Union of Northern Fluminense (Sindipetro NF), they received a notification from Petrobras about an incident that occurred on the P-19 platform on August 10. Around 4 p.m., Geplat reported an abnormal sway of the unit. After an inspection on site, it was found that there was a lack of tension in moorings #5 and #7, raising suspicions of a break.

This suspicion was subsequently confirmed, and the platform was stabilized with the help of an AHTS vessel to prevent the other moorings from being overloaded. Petrobras began the process of replacing the broken moorings and disembarked 24 workers who were not essential for the operation at that moment.
The P-19, a floating production platform with 16 moorings, was constructed and became operational in 1988 and is located 179 km off the coast of Campos dos Goytacazes, in the Marlim Field. Petrobras was already planning to decommission the unit, which is in the process of being deactivated.
On August 16, 1984, One Of The Most Tragic Accidents In Petrobras History Occurred At The Enchova Platform, Located In The Campos Basin. The Event Caused The Death Of 37 Workers And Was An Important Milestone In Terms Of Industrial Safety In The Oil And Gas Sector In Brazil.
The Enchova Platform accident, operated by Petrobras, was one of the most tragic events in the history of the oil industry in Brazil. It occurred on August 16, 1984, when a natural gas explosion on the unit led to a large-scale fire.
The explosion was caused by a gas leak in one of the wells, which got out of control during routine drilling operations. The crew attempted to control the leak, but within minutes, the gas found an ignition source, resulting in a devastating explosion.
In the attempt to evacuate the platform, a lifeboat carrying workers fell into the sea, resulting in the death of 37 people. This accident led to a significant revision of the safety protocols for Petrobras’s offshore operations and the regulation of the industry, highlighting the need for stricter practices and appropriate equipment to handle emergencies.
The Enchova Platform was located in the Campos Basin, one of the principal oil-producing regions in Brazil. The impact of the accident was profound, both for Petrobras and for the families of the workers involved. The tragedy also served as a milestone for the implementation of stricter safety measures and the development of new disaster prevention and response procedures.
The Enchova accident remains a sad reminder of the inherent dangers of oil and gas extraction operations, and of the lessons learned in terms of safety and the protection of human life in the offshore environment.

Uma correção na matéria sobre o acidente de Envhova. Não houve queda de helicóptero que vitimou 37 trabalhadores. O que ocorreu foi a queda de uma baleeira, após o rompimento dos cabos de sustentação da mesma.
