Ford Is Launching Its New Hybrid Van for Camping. The Incredible Ford Transit Delivers Over 200 Horsepower and Is Available for Just R$ 410 Thousand. Get Ready to Experience Amazing Adventures with This Fantastic Vehicle!
The hybrid van market is on the rise in Europe, and keeping this in mind, Ford took advantage of this good phase to present another version of the Transit modified by the manufacturer in partnership with Westfalia, a company focused on camping vans. The result was the Transit Custom Nugget, Ford’s new van, which debuted this month with several updates and a plug-in hybrid powertrain option.
Details of the New Ford Transit Hybrid Van
Among the amenities of the new Ford van are a dedicated kitchen, front bed, folding dining table, and a main bedroom in the retractable roof. According to the American manufacturer, the layout divided into three zones allows customers to move inside the hybrid van more comfortably without bumping into others.
Unlike other camping vehicles, the kitchen is not located in the center but rather at the rear and positioned in an L-shape. Another strategy to cook without disturbing the other passengers.

In the dedicated space, there is a drawer-style refrigerator and a combination of a two-burner stove and sink to optimize the free space on the counter. Both the sink and the external shower of the Ford Transit have hot water, according to Ford. To take a shower, it features a kind of tent that attaches to the rear of the model.
Right above the kitchen, there is a retractable rear panel that hides a roof bed measuring 125 x 205 cm, which is 49 inches by 81 inches. The front seats can also rotate 180 degrees around a folding dining table. At the end of the day, the seats can be folded down, forming another extra bed that is a couple’s size of 120 x 190 cm.
Model Costs Nearly R$ 411 Thousand in Direct Conversion
The equipment list of the new Ford van doesn’t stop there, featuring a 7-inch smart touchscreen to control various functions of the hybrid van, wireless charger, 5G modem, solar panel on the roof, and much more.
The model also has a main screen of 13 inches with voice control in the center of the dashboard, and driver assistance functions such as 360-degree adaptive cruise control.
The top-of-the-line combustion Ford Transit configuration has a Ford EcoBlue 2.0 engine with 168 hp and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The hybrid vehicle sells for approximately 76,517 euros, around R$ 411 thousand in direct conversion to our currency. Deliveries will only begin next year. The hybrid version, however, will arrive only in 2024, with 229 horsepower and an 11.8 kWh battery. The final price has not yet been disclosed by Ford.
The new hybrid van is on display in Düsseldorf, Germany, at the Caravan Salon 2023. It is worth noting that Ford has not yet mentioned whether it plans to offer the same camping package in the E-Transit Custom, the fully electric version of the Ford Transit.
Ford Creates Electric Car That Doesn’t Use a Battery and Allows Refueling at the Gas Station
Ford announced in May an electric car of the future, and its main differentiator is that the model will not be powered by any battery but instead by a hydrogen fuel cell that generates the energy needed to move the vehicle.
The advantage of this technology of the electric car that can be refueled at the gas station is that there is no massive weight of batteries. Ford believes in this evolution and is testing a fleet of E-Transit vans in England, equipped with a fuel cell.
