Meet the Fleet of FPSO Vessels Installed in Brazil’s Pre-Salt and Post-Salt Fields and Learn About the Demand for the Next Decade
A survey by Marcelo Gauto, Oil, Gas, and Energy Specialist, Industrial Chemist, and Operations Technician at Petrobras, based on current data from ANP, presents some interesting numbers about a type of vessel: the FPSO.
Brazil has the largest fleet of FPSOs in the world. Since the 1990s, the Floating Production, Storage and Offloading Units have played a prominent role in the country’s oil production. See the list of the 17 oil companies that will participate in the next ANP auction!
The development of technologies for this type of production unit, used in deep waters, was even the reason Petrobras was honored by the OTC 2019, which took place in May this year in Houston (USA), the largest technology fair in the sector.
See below the data compiled by Marcelo Gauto, a former partner of our portal Click Petróleo e Gás:

While Brazil wants to end the 6×1 work shift, the president of Argentina wants 12 hours for his workers, increasing political tension in the country.

Artemis 2 is set to launch on April 1 at 7:24 PM to orbit the Moon with four astronauts, but a class X solar flare and coronal mass ejection could interfere with communications and threaten the launch.
FPSO Fleet in Pre-Salt and Post-Salt
The Brazilian pre-salt has 23 FPSO vessels, 22 of which are chartered by Petrobras (10 owned and 12 chartered from third parties).
The FPSO P-68, which is en route to the Berbigão and Sururu fields in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, is not included in the list.
For the next decade, 15 more units of this type are scheduled in the pre-salt fields, which will raise our oil production to over 4 million barrels per day.
In the Post-Salt, we have a total of 25 FPSOs, which combined with the units installed in the pre-salt detailed above, make a total of 48 FPSOs, with 22 belonging to Petrobras and 26 to other companies.
Of the 26 FPSOs belonging to other companies, 19 are under charter contracts with Petrobras. See below the image with the list and details of each unit installed in the pre-salt under the state-owned company’s concession, but it is still not complete and some units are yet to be listed:
