The energy giants EDP Renováveis and Vestas completed, last Thursday (15/12), the first edition of the Keep It Local professional qualification program, in the municipality of Caiçara do Rio do Vento, in Rio Grande do Norte. The course trained a total of 25 people for work in the renewable energy sector. According to the companies, this is a way to boost the professional development of the rural areas where their projects are located, contributing to the socioeconomic growth of the region.

The last week was quite important for strengthening the relations between EDP Renováveis, the fourth largest producer of wind and solar energy in the world, and Vestas, a leading company in the manufacturing, sale, installation, and maintenance of wind turbines.
The companies completed the first edition of their joint professional qualification program, Keep It Local, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

The course was conducted in partnership with SENAI-RN, the National Service for Industrial Learning, and trained a total of 25 people in the renewable energy areas, with more than half of the group consisting of women.
The program was conducted free of charge by the companies, and both confirmed their interest in holding new editions of the professional qualification course in the region.
According to Vestas and EDP Renováveis, the main objective of the initiative is to enhance the qualification of workers in rural areas and expand employability in the renewable energy sector.
Rio Grande do Norte is the leading state in onshore wind energy production, with a growing need for new investments to boost professional qualification in the region.

Diplomas From The First Edition Of The Keep It Local Professional Qualification Program Were Delivered Last Week To The 25 Students
In total, the Vestas and EDP Renováveis professional qualification program offered 25 scholarships in the region, 13 for women and 12 for men, achieving a 100% graduation rate for those enrolled in the renewable energy field.
The diploma delivery took place last week at a ceremony held at the Community Development Association of Caiçara do Rio do Vento Municipality, attended by local authorities, including Mayor Conceição de Maria Gomes Lisboa Rocha.
The first edition of Keep It Local involved the participation of some Vestas employees to address the topic and included a visit from the group to the Service and Training Center in Parnamirim.
The president of Vestas for Latin America, Eduardo Ricotta, commented that he is proud to be part of the project and hopes that the company can continue contributing to employability and professional qualification in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
