Used Volkswagen Polo GTS costs between R$ 100,916 and R$ 134,304, has a 1.4 turbo engine with 150 hp, automatic transmission, and consumption of up to 14.2 km/l.

Finding a compact hatchback with 150 hp, automatic transmission, and specific suspension tuning requires a budget of at least R$ 100,916 in the used market. This is the average value of the used Volkswagen Polo GTS from the 2020 lineup, according to the Fipe Table of July 2026.

The newer models reach R$ 134,304 in the 2025 lineup. Between one end and the other, the buyer finds the same 1.4 turbo engine but needs to observe the changes applied by Volkswagen starting from the 2022 visual update.

Launched in Brazil in 2020, the GTS was the sportiest alternative in the Polo family. The configuration had a reduced share in sales but gathered unique driving, finishing, and performance characteristics that did not appear in the conventional versions of the hatchback.

How much does a used Volkswagen Polo GTS cost?

The difference between the first year and the most recent on the list reaches R$ 33,388. The values gradually advance according to the year of manufacture, with a more noticeable jump between the 2022 and 2023 lines.

Model YearAverage Price on Fipe
2020R$ 100,916
2021R$ 105,988
2022R$ 110,123
2023R$ 119,455
2024R$ 124,826
2025R$ 134,304

The table shows that even the earliest models remain above R$ 100,000. The purchase price appears, in fact, among the negative points attributed to the model.

The low number of units sold when new also makes the GTS less common than other Polo configurations. This characteristic may contribute to its potential appreciation as a collectible interest model in the future, although there is no guarantee that this will occur.

1.4 Turbo Engine Takes the Hatch to 203 km/h

All units use the 250 TSI 1.4 turboflex engine, with four cylinders and direct injection. The set delivers 150 hp and 25.5 kgfm. The transmission is a six-speed Tiptronic automatic. Volkswagen did not offer a manual alternative, not even as an optional item.

According to factory numbers, the hatch completes the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds. The maximum speed reported is 203 km/h. The engine was not exclusive to the GTS. The differentiation compared to other Volkswagens with the same engine came mainly from the tuning applied to the chassis and steering.

Steering and Suspension Change the Driving Experience

The Polo GTS received electric steering assistance with more immediate responses. The suspension also gained a stiffer adjustment than that used in common versions. These changes were adopted to make the car’s reactions more compatible with the sporty proposal.

The goal was not just to increase power, but to modify how the hatch responds in curves and direction changes.

The manufacturer also installed a system that reproduces and intensifies the engine sound through the internal speakers. The feature seeks to increase the perception of mechanical operation inside the cabin. Despite the specific tuning, the approximate distance of 15 centimeters between the car and the ground is pointed out as high for a vehicle of this proposal.

2022 Update Made the Chassis Stiffer

The restyling introduced in 2022 was not limited to the body design. Volkswagen altered suspension components to increase the firmness of the set. The stabilizer bar now has a greater thickness, while the torsion axle gained a stiffer construction. The changes reinforced the dynamic difference between the GTS and other options in the lineup.

On the outside, the model received new IQ.Light matrix headlights. The light signature is now connected by an illuminated strip installed on the grille. The rear lights also had their internal design revised. The rear bumper was modified, and the GTS identification now occupies the central area of the trunk lid.

The 18-inch wheels have become standard equipment at this stage. Before the update, the list mentioned 17-inch alloy sets.

Fuel consumption reaches 14.2 km/l with gasoline

Despite the performance-oriented setup, the efficiency numbers remain close to those of everyday use models. With gasoline, the Polo GTS achieved 11.6 km/l in urban settings and 14.2 km/l on the highway, according to Inmetro measurements.

When fueled with ethanol, the averages drop to 8 km/l in the city and 10 km/l on the highway.

Fuel consumption is among the favorable aspects of the car, especially considering it is the highest performance version of the line.

Interior features black and red details

The cabin uses predominantly dark finishes. Red stitching and elements appear on the dashboard, steering wheel, and leather-covered seats. The seats have a sporty design, while the pedals feature aluminum finishes. The driver also has a driving mode selector.

The instrument panel is digital and measures 10.25 inches. The multimedia center has a 10-inch screen and offers integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The convenience package includes single-zone digital air conditioning, wireless phone charging, a rear camera, and an electrochromic interior mirror.

Equipment list follows the most complete version of the Polo

For the most part, the GTS’s feature set follows the Highline 200 TSI configuration, equipped with a 1.0 turbo engine. The sporty version adds visual elements and driving adjustments but shares several comfort items.

Available equipment includes:

  • cruise control and speed limiter;
  • rain and light sensors;
  • LED headlights and taillights;
  • automatic headlight activation;
  • electric windows, locks, and mirrors;
  • multifunction steering wheel;
  • rearview camera;
  • leather seats;
  • digital air conditioning;
  • multimedia center;
  • digital instrument panel.

The list places the hatch among the most equipped configurations of the Polo produced during the period.

Safety includes electronic controls, but no curtain airbags

The model has front and side airbags. Stability and traction controls, Isofix fixations, and hill start assist are also present. The electronic differential lock works to manage power distribution to the wheels. There is also a post-collision braking system.

The absence of curtain airbags is one of the criticized points in the configuration. Even occupying the top of the line and adopting a sporty proposal, the GTS did not receive this equipment.

The main reported safety features are:

  • front and side airbags;
  • electronic stability control;
  • traction control;
  • electronic differential lock;
  • hill start assist;
  • post-collision braking;
  • Isofix anchorages.

Shared mechanics facilitate maintenance

The set formed by the 1.4 turbo engine and the six-speed automatic transmission was used in different Volkswagen vehicles. This broader presence made the mechanics known to equipped workshops and professionals specialized in the brand.

The GTS, therefore, does not rely on an exclusive set produced only for a low-volume version. This characteristic favors the maintenance of the used Volkswagen Polo GTS, although the condition remains a determining factor in the evaluation of each unit.

As it is a performance-oriented car, the usage history should also be given attention. The technical specifications may be the same, but the condition of a unit depends on how it was used and maintained.

Lack of manual transmission divides opinions

The automatic transmission facilitates daily use and works with six gears, but limits the driver’s participation in driving. A manual gearbox could enhance the sporty proposal and offer a distinct experience. Volkswagen, however, maintained only the Tiptronic option throughout the model’s history.

This is one of the most mentioned negative points, alongside the price, suspension height, and the absence of curtain airbags. The insurance cost can also be high in some regions, adding an expense that should be considered beyond the purchase price.

Positive and negative points of the Volkswagen Polo GTS

Among its qualities, the model combines performance, controlled consumption, and a wide equipment configuration. Its unique look and steering setup also help to differentiate it.

  • acceleration and top speed;
  • steering with more direct responses;
  • fuel consumption;
  • equipment list;
  • specific visual;
  • maintenance of a known mechanics;
  • potential collectible interest in the future.

Points of attention

  • prices above R$ 100,000;
  • absence of manual transmission;
  • lack of curtain airbags;
  • relatively high suspension;
  • more expensive insurance in certain locations.

Is a used Volkswagen Polo GTS worth buying?

The Polo GTS caters to those who want a compact hatch with superior performance compared to standard versions, without giving up automatic transmission, connectivity, and comfort features.

Pre-facelift models have the lowest prices on the market. Units from 2022 onwards received visual changes and a new suspension calibration, as well as alterations in wheels and lighting. The buyer needs to decide if these evolutions justify paying more. Between the 2020 and 2025 models, the difference exceeds R$ 33,000.

With a 150 hp engine, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds, and highway consumption of up to 14.2 km/l, the used Volkswagen Polo GTS offers an unusual combination of performance and daily use. The limitations are in the price, safety without curtain airbags, and the absence of a manual transmission that could make its proposition even more engaging.
