The city of Santo André, located in the state of São Paulo, took an important step towards sustainability in public transport. On Monday (3/7), the city hall presented a new technology, the first 100% Brazilian electric bus to circulate in the municipality. The vehicle, which features electric traction technology from Eletra, Caio e-Millennium bodywork and batteries and electric motors from WEG, is equipped with a chassis manufactured by Mercedes-Benz, in São Bernardo do Campo, According to Daily Reporter.
Mayor Paulo Serra carried out an inspection of the electric bus at the headquarters of Viação Guaianazes, located at Avenida Guaianazes, 381, in Vila Homero Thon. The event was attended by representatives of Eletra, the transport operator and other local authorities.
In this initial phase, the electric bus technology will be tested without passengers on one of the lines served by Viação Guaianazes, responsible for municipal public transport. The objective is to analyze the conditions specific roadways for this type of vehicle, in addition to carrying out studies on the capacity and dimensioning of the batteries needed to run the system's lines.
