Toyota Announces Discontinuation of a Model, Making Way for the New SUV Yaris Cross and Focusing on Automatic Models

In a realignment strategy in Latin America, Toyota has decided to cease production of the Toyota Yaris Sedan, which was imported from a neighboring country.

This decision aims to update the automaker’s portfolio and strengthen its presence in the Brazilian market, preparing the ground for the launch of the Yaris Cross, a compact SUV that promises to innovate the brand’s offering, according to newsmotor.

The Transition from Toyota Yaris Sedan to Yaris Cross

The exit of the Yaris Sedan not only marks the end of a traditional model but also signals the arrival of the Yaris Cross.

According to information from Toyota Argentina, this new SUV is scheduled to officially debut in 2025 and promises to meet the new demands of the market, bringing significant technological innovations.

Yaris Cross Specifications

The Yaris Cross will be available with a variety of powertrains.

The basic versions will feature a 1.5 Naturally Aspirated engine with 106 hp and 14 kgfm of torque.

The hybrid version will combine a combustion engine of 80 hp with an electric motor of 90 hp, offering options that cater to different consumer profiles.

News and Price Expectations

The prices of the Yaris Cross are expected to range between R$ 130 thousand and R$ 180 thousand.

In addition to the launch of the new SUV, Toyota is expanding its operations in Brazil with the inauguration of a new factory in Sorocaba, in the state of São Paulo.

This facility will increase the company’s production capacity and introduce two new hybrid flex models, reinforcing the automaker’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Focus on Automatic Models

With the discontinuation of the Toyota Yaris Sedan, Toyota is also bidding farewell to the versions with manual transmission.

Since 2020, the model was only available with CVT transmission in Brazil.

This change aligns with a growing trend in the automotive market that favors the adoption of more modern and efficient technologies.

Goodbye to the Yaris Sedan and hello to the Yaris Cross! Toyota is adapting to new market demands, and with this transition, it hopes to continue offering vehicles that meet the needs of Brazilian consumers.
