The overhaul includes the renewal of structures, systems, interiors, and avionics, aiming to return the aircraft to conditions close to factory specifications, as previously applied to other units of the same model.

In similar programs already carried out, this type of intervention allowed for an extension of operational service life of up to 12 additional years, ensuring greater fleet availability over time.

Delivery of the H-284 Is Scheduled for the First Quarter of 2026

After the completion of all technical procedures and corresponding tests, the delivery of the H-284 helicopter is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, marking the end of this phase of the program.

The timeline follows the pattern adopted in previous overhauls conducted at the Itajubá facility, reinforcing the predictability of the industrial process applied.

Cougar Remains the Main Helicopter of the Chilean Army

The AS532AL Cougar fleet continues to be the primary rotary-wing asset of the Chilean Army Aviation Brigade, particularly notable in the Germania Helicopter Battalion, operating in tactical transport, logistical support, and combined operations.

Since late 2022, the Chilean Army initially sent three units to Brazil for this same program. The first of these, H-280, returned to operational service in 2024 after successfully completing the overhaul process.
