New Electric SUV Leapmotor C10 Announced in Automotive Market, Promising to Compete with Segment Leader: Tesla Model Y, for Under US$ 50,000.
The Chinese vehicle manufacturer Leapmotor plans to establish a competitive presence in the Australian electric car market with its new 2025 Leapmotor C10 electric SUV. With this, the brand is positioning itself in the automotive market more accessibly than the segment leader Tesla Model Y and other large brand rivals.
How Much Will the New Leapmotor C10 Electric SUV Cost?
While official prices have yet to be confirmed, a spokesperson for Stellantis, the global parent company that partly owns Leapmotor, stated that the new automotive market model, in the Design and Style variants, will cost less than US$ 50,000 before road costs.
The starting price of the new electric SUV, below US$ 50,000, is lower than that of the Tesla Model Y, which starts at US$ 55,900, as well as other similar family electric SUVs, such as the Toyota bZ4x (starting at US$ 66,000) and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (starting at US$ 69,800).

Leapmotor Comments on the Arrival of the New Electric SUV
Despite the onslaught of other manufacturers seeking to carve out a position in the electric car market, Matt Lei, Vice President of International Operations at Leapmotor, asserts that the automaker does not have any specific rival brands other than gasoline and diesel cars. According to the executive, new energy vehicles are still crawling in Australia, so the total market share for battery electric vehicles is still very limited.
Thus, the company will not say that it is competing with any other BEV players in the market. The company aims to collaborate and wants to sell more vehicles to benefit society as a whole. That is their vision. This is why they claim that there are no competitors for the Chinese brand.
When asked where Leapmotor sees its position among other emerging and established brands, Lei states that the automaker is more focused on establishing a strong customer relationship than on defining its ranking in the Australian electric car market.
When Will the New Electric SUV Arrive in the Automotive Market?
Lei states that by offering products and services that resonate with consumers and exceed customer expectations, they begin to recognize the brand and ultimately trust it. The executive mentions that Leapmotor seeks to create a luxury appeal through the customer experience, not the traditional definition of premium usually associated with luxury brands.
The company is providing something more than customers expect so they feel premium; this is the message the company aims to convey.
The new 2025 Leapmotor C10 electric SUV is expected to arrive at Australian showrooms in the fourth quarter of 2024, with a spokesperson from Stellantis confirming that the brand plans to establish a dealer network in the country.
