On the last Wednesday, the 15th, the Pindorama Cooperative made an important announcement: it will start producing corn ethanol, becoming the first flex unit in the North-Northeast region of Brazil. The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels has not yet changed its authorization for this to happen.

According to the ANP, the Pindorama Cooperative has authorization to produce up to 340,000 liters of hydrated and 160,000 liters of anhydrous daily. However, improvements in these values are expected, reaching 540,000 liters of hydrated and 300,000 liters of anhydrous.

The Cooperative already had a sugarcane distillery. Therefore, it had all the necessary infrastructure to facilitate the production of corn ethanol and make its cost lower. According to Klécio Santos, the company’s president, “we were confident and secure in the project’s feasibility.”

Additionally, another industrial unit is being built to store the final products intended for Northeastern cuisine. This plant will have four silos with a capacity of 50,000 bags each and an elevator to transport the grain. Thus, Pindorama will expand its offerings through the production of corn flakes and cornmeal.

This initiative is very important as it will provide greater autonomy to the North-Northeast region of Brazil in local production. Additionally, it will bring benefits to families involved in the harvest of the grain, who will have more income to invest in local businesses.

Pindorama has been a great ally in the development of the North-Northeast region of Brazil through its sustainable and differentiated projects, which aim to contribute to the environment and improve the socio-economic conditions of the local population. The initiative consolidates the cooperative as a reference in the conscious production and use of natural resources in this geographical area.

Maragogi City Hall and Pindorama Join Forces to Support Farmers

The Maragogi City Hall and the Pindorama Cooperative have joined forces to support the farmers in the region of Alagoas’ North Coast. Last Saturday (11), Mayor Sérgio Lira (Progressives – PP) and the president of the entity, Klécio Santos, met in the coastal city to discuss partnerships and production strategies.

Sérgio Lira and Klécio Santos were welcomed by businessman Marcelo Lacerda at the Anttunina inn. At the time, they discussed the production of corn-based alcohol and also the distillation of dried corn grains (DDG). The local settlement farmers could benefit from this initiative.

Mayor Sérgio Lira seized the opportunity to learn more about the Pindorama Cooperative during a visit he made in January of this year. At that time, he had the chance to verify the work developed by the entity and ascertain that it produces more than 100 different products. The president of the cooperative praised Sérgio Lira for his intention to strengthen ties between the two parties.

During the meeting at the Anttunina inn, it was discussed how local farmers and producers could benefit from this partnership. The Pindorama Cooperative would be a pioneer in the production of corn-based alcohol in Alagoas, using grains from the neighboring state of Sergipe. A cooperation agreement was also being developed for this purpose. Sérgio Lira confirmed that Maragogi would be one of the main producers of this type of alcohol in the state. Everyone present left satisfied with the outcome of the meeting.
