Last Wednesday, the 15th, Cooperativa Pindorama made an important announcement: it will start producing corn ethanol, becoming the first flex unit in the North-Northeast region of Brazil. The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels has not yet changed its authorization for this to happen.
According to the ANP, Cooperativa Pindorama is authorized to produce up to 340 liters of hydrated and 160 liters of anhydrous daily. However, improvements are expected in these values, reaching 540 liters of hydrous and 300 liters of anhydrous.
The Cooperative already had a sugar cane distillery. Therefore, it had all the necessary structure to facilitate the process of corn ethanol production and make your cost lower. According to Klécio Santos, president of the company, “we were sure and confident in the viability of the project”.
In addition, another industrial unit is being built to store final products intended for northeastern cuisine. This plant will have four silos with a capacity of 50 bags each and an elevator to transport the grain. Thus, Pindorama will expand its offers from the production of corn flakes and cornmeal.

Cooperativa Pindorama will be the first in North and Northeast Brazil to produce corn ethanol
This initiative is very important as it will offer greater autonomy to the north-northeast region of Brazil in terms of local production. In addition, it will bring benefits to the families involved in the grain harvest, who will have more income to invest in local businesses.

Maragogi City Hall and Pindorama unite to support farmers
The city of Maragogi and Cooperativa Pindorama joined together to support the farmers in the region of the North Coast of Alagoas. Last Saturday (11), Mayor Sérgio Lira (Progressistas – PP) and the president of the entity, Klécio Santos, met in the coastal city to discuss partnerships and production strategies.
Sérgio Lira and Klécio Santos were welcomed by businessman Marcelo Lacerda at the Anttunina Inn. At the time, discussions were held on the production of corn-based alcohol and also on the distillation of dry corn grains (DDG). You farmers from the settlements local communities could benefit from this initiative.
Mayor Sérgio Lira took the opportunity to get to know Cooperativa Pindorama better during a visit he made in January of this year. On that occasion, he had the chance to check out the works developed by the entity and found that it produces more than 100 different products. The president of the cooperative praised Sérgio Lira for his intention to strengthen ties between the two parties.
At the meeting at the Anttunina Inn, it was discussed how the city's farmers and producers could benefit from this partnership. Cooperativa Pindorama would be a pioneer in production of corn-based alcohol in Alagoas, using grains from the neighboring state of Sergipe. A term of agreement was also being constructed for this purpose. Sérgio Lira confirmed that Maragogi would be one of the main producers of this type of alcohol in the state. All those present left satisfied with the result obtained at the meeting.
