Chevrolet Sail, the new compact sedan, arrives to fill the space left by the Classic, already being a sales success in other markets and with great potential to shake up the Brazilian market.
Discontinued in 2016, the Chevrolet Classic left a legion of nostalgic fans, especially grateful for its efficiency as a compact sedan, ideal for families. Its highlights included a surprisingly large trunk for its size and the robustness of the 1.0 engine from GM's I family. Although the Classic was replaced by the Prisma at the time, the latter was unable to replicate the same success for several reasons. Now, Chevrolet presents the Chevrolet Sail sedan, which arrives with the promise of being the worthy successor to the Classic, bringing high expectations to the market.
Chevrolet Sail sedan is considered a sales success in Chile
In Chile, there is a cheap sedan that fulfills this proposal very well here: the Chevrolet Sail Sedan 2024. Discontinued for a few months in the Chilean market in its old generation, the Chevrolet Sail sedan 2024, which has a front similar to the first Onix generation, makes its return in a much more interesting body. For those who have never heard of the three-volume model, it is the result of a Chinese project developed by the SAIC-GM-Wulling joint venture, and was even imported from China.
It is also worth noting that the Chevrolet Sail Sedan is one of the most popular models in Chile, that is, it has accumulated excellent sales figures in the country, having been sold there since 2011.

Just like the Chevrolet Classic, successor to the Corsinha Sedan, has met the needs of many Brazilian families, the Chevrolet Sail Sedan is one of the most sought-after cheap cars by Chileans who need more space. The model is also sold in Mexico under the name Aveo. While the previous generation Sail Sedan had features of the Onix and Prisma, the new one, which takes the place of the Classic, has a more elegant style and squarer lines.
Design, dashboard and trunk space
The front of the Chevrolet Sail sedan features narrow headlights with a more rectangular shape and interconnected with the grille, as well as a bumper with a smaller air intake, thus bringing a more classic style than expected. In profile, a crease runs from the front fender to the rear, connecting to the lights, which are horizontal and invade the trunk lid.
Inside, the Classic's replacement has straighter and more horizontal lines, which undoubtedly differentiate themselves from the rest of the brand's range, with a more rounded design. A line runs across the entire panel and hides the air vents, in the best style. Honda Civic 11th generation. In addition, the Sail also has a multimedia center with an 8-inch screen highlighted in the more expensive versions.
Being a little more compact, the vehicle is 4,49 meters long, 1,69m wide, 1,49m high and has a wheelbase of 2,55 meters. For comparison purposes, the current Onix Plus is 4,49 meters long, 1,47 meters high, 1,73 meters wide and 2,60 meters long. The trunk of the Chevrolet Sail sedan has a good 475 liters, slightly larger than the national sedan (469 L).
New Chevrolet car delivers up to 98 horsepower
Under the hood, the Chevrolet Sail sedan has a 1.5 four-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine that, according to the automaker, delivers up to 98 horsepower and 14,2 kgfm of torque. There are two transmission options: six-speed manual or CVT automatic. It is sold in LT and LTZ variants, the latter with two gearbox options.
It is worth noting that the model, although basic, already has disc brakes, including at the rear, while the Onix Plus here has rear drum brakes. It is worth noting that it is the cheapest Chevrolet car in Chile, below the Onix and Onix Plus, which are sold for US$ 11.790 (R$ 58.069) each.
If it comes to Brazil, the model can cost R$80 thousand reais considering taxes and import fees.
Good afternoon, but when it arrives in Brazil, it goes through numerous changes, which are not for the better, they are changes in the cleaning style, they remove all the optional extras, and leave only the essentials, then, they increase the value, in other words, they scrap it and put it up for sale in Brazil.
These people don't know anything, I work there, and there's nothing like this car here in Brazil.
Scrap from China, this model has been running for more than 5 years now, now it is being used in Brazil.
