Now sold in only three versions, the model has been selected for the federal Sustainable Car program, which allows for full exemption from the Industrialized Products Tax (IPI) and ensures more competitive prices, especially for the base and top-end options.

In addition to the IPI exemption provided by the Sustainable Car program, Volkswagen is conducting promotional campaigns with the so-called “double IPI discount”, enhancing competitiveness in the segment.
This benefit, however, is applied particularly to the Track and Highline versions.
The brand also announced the possibility of bringing back the TSI version, but as of July 2025, no new prices or official details about the commercialization of this model have been released.
Motors and Performance: Naturally Aspirated and Turbo Versions
The Volkswagen Polo 2026 features two main engine configurations.
The Track version includes a 1.0 three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with 12 valves, delivering 77 horsepower and 9.6 kgfm of torque when fueled with gasoline, and 84 horsepower with 10.3 kgfm of torque when using ethanol.

The five-speed manual transmission accompanies this setup, providing a driving focus on efficiency and low consumption.
In the Sense and Highline versions, the model features the well-known 1.0 TSI turbo engine, also three cylinders and 12 valves, with direct fuel injection.
This engine produces 109 horsepower with gasoline and 116 horsepower when fueled with ethanol, as well as torque of 16.8 kgfm available with both fuels.
The six-speed automatic transmission is standard in these versions, reinforcing Volkswagen’s commitment to technology and performance in a compact hatchback.
Fuel Consumption: Efficiency in Different Scenarios
According to data from Inmetro, the Volkswagen Polo 2026 demonstrates good consumption figures for the segment.
In the naturally aspirated configuration, the urban average reaches 13.9 km/l with gasoline and 9.6 km/l with ethanol, while on the highway it can achieve up to 16.3 km/l with gasoline and 11.4 km/l with ethanol.
The TSI engine, equipped with an automatic transmission, records averages of up to 15.7 km/l with gasoline and 10.9 km/l with ethanol on highway trips; in urban cycles, the figures are 13.5 km/l with gasoline and 9.3 km/l with ethanol.
These figures reinforce the model’s proposal to combine performance with economy.
Dimensions and Space: Compact Outside, Efficient Inside

Without changes in dimensions, the Volkswagen Polo 2026 maintains a length of 4.07 meters, width of 1.75 meters, height of 1.47 meters, and a wheelbase of 2.57 meters.
The trunk, with a capacity of 300 liters, remains one of the largest in the category among hatches, favoring daily use and travel.
The model has not undergone size modifications in this line update.
Equipment: Technology, Safety, and Comfort in Every Version
The Volkswagen Polo Track offers essential items such as side airbags, Media Plus II audio system, air conditioning, power steering, front windows, and electric door locks, multifunction steering wheel, and driver’s seat with height adjustment.
Optionally, it can be equipped with the VW Play multimedia system.
The Sense version adds 1.0 turbo engine, automatic transmission, LED headlights, keyless entry, rear parking sensor, cruise control, paddle shifters on the steering wheel, and an eight-inch digital dashboard.

As with the basic model, the VW Play multimedia system is optional.
At the top of the line, the Volkswagen Polo Highline includes all the items from the previous versions and adds a digital dashboard with a 10.25-inch screen, advanced multimedia center, automatic digital air conditioning, wireless phone charger, rearview camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, rain sensor, and start-stop system.
The combination of technology and premium finish positions the Highline version as one of the most complete in the segment.
Reduction of the Portfolio and Arrival of the Volkswagen Tera
The main reason for Volkswagen reducing the number of Polo versions in 2026 was the arrival of the compact SUV Volkswagen Tera, recently launched with prices starting at R$ 103,990.
The new utility vehicle, positioned between the intermediate and more sophisticated options of the Polo, prompted the automaker to reposition the hatch, making it more focused on strategic and competitive versions in the national scenario.
Sustainable Car Initiative and Impact on the Final Price
The Sustainable Car program, established by the Federal Government, allowed models with efficiency- and lower environmental impact-oriented characteristics to have their IPI set to zero.
The Volkswagen Polo 2026 fits within this initiative, a factor that contributed to the price reduction of the Track and Highline versions, directly benefiting consumers seeking economy and technology.
Furthermore, the double IPI discount campaign reinforces the advantage for those looking to purchase a modern hatch at a more accessible price.
