The semiconductor crisis once again led to the stoppage of yet another production line. This time, three Volkswagen factories, in São Paulo and Paraná, were affected.
In the last week, Volkswagen announced that there will be a stoppage in production at three factories in Brazil, namely: the factories of São Bernardo do Campo and São Carlos, in the state of São Paulo, and the factory of São José dos Pinhas, in Paraná.

Understand the reason for the stoppage in Volkswagen production
According to the automaker, the stoppage is due to the lack of semiconductors necessary for the manufacture of vehicles. Therefore, the entire production line of these three factories will be inactive from June 21st.
The lack of semiconductors has been a problem that has hit automakers, in addition to Volkswagen, on a global level and has been causing a lot of headaches for the automotive industry. In Brazil, the problem does not only affect the automaker's production, General Motors also had difficulty producing its cars in the country.

The semiconductor chip crisis
Last month, two days after GM announced a stoppage in its production, Nissan also announced the stoppage of its plant with more than 2 workers. The reason for the stoppage was also the crisis in semiconductor chips, which has been hitting several automaker factories.
Despite the crisis, the semiconductor manufacturers have been trying to boost production, but even with the efforts, the crisis keeps coming and causing stoppages in production, as happened with Volkswagen.
To get an idea of the size of the product crisis, not even Tesla managed to escape, and had to postpone the delivery of two of its electric cars. GM stopped production of its Chevrolet Onix and sedan Onix Plus, which, according to the company, are the cars that most use the chips.
Volkswagen: Could other possible stoppages arrive in Brazil?
The automaker VW says that the production of its factories in São Paulo and Paraná will be paralyzed for 10 days, starting on the 21st of June. However, the possibilities of new stoppages will not be ruled out, and, therefore, the entire range of brand cars will be impacted.
Of the models produced in Brazil, the only ones that will be able to “escape” the crisis will be the Gol and the Voyage, since they are produced in Taubaté, which resumed from the stoppage a few days ago. Its production was stopped in May, also due to a lack of parts.
