Collective Vacations of Volkswagen Unit Workers in São Paulo
According to the Union of Metalworkers of Taubaté and Region, the collective vacations affect workers from both shifts at the plant in the municipality. The Union highlighted that the Volkswagen unit in São Paulo is facing a period of semiconductor shortages to feed the assembly lines. The components are responsible for the internal communication of electronic equipment in vehicles.
Currently, Volkswagen in Taubaté, in the interior of São Paulo, produces the Gol and Voyage vehicles. The factory is also expected to receive a new product cycle with the implementation of the MQB platform. At the time of the vacation announcement, the company stated that a significant shortage of semiconductors is causing various supply bottlenecks in many industries globally.

Notice About the Collective Vacations in the Interior of São Paulo
Last Monday, a notice from Volkswagen stated that it would suspend operations starting June 7 at the factories in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, and Taubaté, São Paulo, due to a lack of inputs, saying, “This has also created problems in the supply of the automotive industry around the world since the turn of the year. The result is adaptations throughout the industry in automobile production, which also affects the brands of the Volkswagen Group.”
“In recent months, the Volkswagen team in Brazil has been working intensively and successfully, both internally and in partnership with our headquarters, to minimize the effects of the semiconductor shortage on production at its plants in Brazil. Until today, our units in the country have not been affected on a larger scale. However, with the worsening of the situation and based on the current circumstances, we presume that the supply of semiconductors will continue to be limited over the coming weeks,” says a part of the text.
