The Honda Prelude has officially returned to Brazil after approximately 25 years, marking the comeback of one of the most renowned coupes from the Japanese brand.
The sixth generation was unveiled this Thursday, August 27, 2026, during the Interlagos Festival.
The model arrives in the country priced at R$ 380,000, with only 50 units available for pre-order initially.

The Prelude’s history in Brazil also has a special connection with Ayrton Senna, who featured in advertising campaigns for the sports car during the 1990s.
Now, however, the coupe returns with a different proposition, combining electrification, everyday comfort, and elements inherited from the Honda Civic Type R.
Hybrid System Delivers 203 hp of Power
The new Honda Prelude features a setup comprising a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors.
The combustion engine operates on the Atkinson cycle with direct injection, technologies employed to enhance energy efficiency.
The combined power reaches 203 hp, while the maximum torque is 32.1 kgfm.
The electric motor produces 184 hp, while the 2.0-liter engine delivers 143 hp when analyzed separately.
The transmission is e-CVT, and the front-wheel drive system remains unchanged.
According to information released by Honda, the setup registers a consumption rate of 17.9 km/l in the city and 15.7 km/l on the highway.
Civic Type R Components Enhance Sporty Behavior
Part of the Prelude’s dynamics was developed using solutions employed in the Civic Type R.
The model features independent suspension and adaptive dampers, capable of altering performance based on the selected driving mode.
The front brakes utilize 350 mm discs and four-piston Brembo calipers.
The calipers are finished in blue, referencing the vehicle’s hybrid system.
During an evaluation conducted by g1 at the Interlagos racetrack, the chassis and suspension setup demonstrated stable handling in the corners.
The goal, however, is not to turn the Prelude into a hybrid Type R version.
The Civic Type R prioritizes performance and fast lap times on track. The Prelude, on the other hand, aims to combine sportiness and everyday comfort.
S+ Shift simulates gear changes and even heel-and-toe
One of the key technological innovations of the model is S+ Shift.
Although the hybrid system does not perform gear shifts like a conventional transmission, the technology electronically reproduces that sensation.
The operation of the motors is controlled to simulate gear shifts and downshifts during acceleration and deceleration.
The technology also mimics the effect of heel-and-toe, a technique traditionally used in sports cars during downshifts.
The S+ Shift operates in four driving modes: Comfort, GT, Sport, and Individual.
Each mode alters parameters such as engine response, steering weight, shock absorber stiffness, and information displayed on the dashboard.
The system also modifies the sound produced inside the cabin.
In Sport mode, for instance, the Bose audio system artificially enhances the sound of the internal combustion engine.
Equipment aligns with the new Prelude’s technological proposition
The Honda Prelude will be sold in Brazil in a single version.
The model features 19-inch wheels with 235/40 R19 tires and offers sport pedals.
The instrument panel has a 10.2-inch display, while the multimedia center boasts a 9-inch screen.
Available features include Google Assistant, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
The vehicle also offers wireless phone charging and a Bose audio system with eight speakers.
The body retains the 2+2 coupe configuration, with two front seats and two in the back.
The rear seats are better suited for short trips, especially when the passengers are taller.
Honda SENSING Expands Safety Package
The new Prelude also features the Honda SENSING package.
Available features include automatic braking and lane departure correction.
The system also includes lane-keeping and lane-centering assistance.
The adaptive cruise control automatically adjusts speed to maintain distance from the vehicle ahead.
The package also offers automatic headlight adjustment.
Pre-sales Begin with 50 Units in Brazil
Produced in Japan, the Honda Prelude measures 4.52 meters long, 1.88 meters wide, and 1.35 meters high.
The wheelbase is 2.60 meters, while the trunk offers a capacity of 264 liters.
The declared weight is 1,469 kg, and the tank holds 40 liters of fuel.
Available colors will include Crystal Black Pearl, Rallye Red, and Moonlit White Pearl.
Pre-sales began on August 27, 2026 and will continue until the end of September.
The first 50 buyers will have access to benefits offered by Honda.
These include a protective cover, anti-theft nuts, mats, a mini model of the Prelude, and paint protection.
Special payment and insurance conditions are also expected, along with driving experiences promoted by the manufacturer.
The vehicle will come with a six-year unlimited mileage warranty.
The battery and electric motors will be covered for eight years or 160,000 kilometers.
Return Revives a Familiar Story for Brazilians
The return occurs approximately 25 years after the last Prelude’s presence in the Brazilian market.
The connection to Ayrton Senna reinforces the model’s historical significance for part of the audience.
However, the new generation arrives with characteristics very different from the old Prelude.
Electrification now plays a central role, while solutions from the Civic Type R aim to preserve part of the sporty proposal.
The result is a coupe that tries to balance performance, hybrid technology, and everyday comfort.
With a price of R$ 380,000 (about US$75,000) and a limited initial lot, the Honda Prelude begins a new phase in Brazil.
