Bento Albuquerque, Minister of Mines and Energy, reaffirmed yesterday (11) that the country will become the fifth largest exporter of oil and that it will produce around 5,3 million barrels

Yesterday, Tuesday (11/05), during the public hearing of the Mines and Energy of the Chamber, Minister Bento Albuquerque once again said that by 2030 Brazil will be among the five largest oil exporters in the world. The MME minister also pointed out that Brazil is currently the 7th largest in terms of world production and exports, and also said that, when it becomes the 5th largest exporter of fossil fuel, it will produce around 5,3 million barrels per day.

The MME minister also informed that oil exports injected around BRL 100 billion into Brazil last year (2020). Bento Albuquerque also highlighted the fact that today Brazil is the fourth largest automotive fuel market, surpassed by India last year, which took third place.

In addition to oil, the MME minister mentions the mining sector

Bento also highlighted mining, which, according to him, surpassed soybeans in exports in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year. According to the MME minister, there was an increase of around 15% in iron ore production in this period.

According to the minister, iron ore accounts for 17% of the Brazilian trade balance and informed that, as a result of the rise in iron ore, the segment had a 95% higher revenue.

Ministry of Mines and Energy says that the country will have many contributions in the oil, gas, biofuels and electricity segments by 2030

During an interview for the TV Brasil channel, in the “Brasil em Pauta” program, the MME minister said that Brazil will have large investments to be made in the energy sector, namely the gas, oil, biofuels and electricity segments. Bento Albuquerque also says that these sectors mentioned above will receive billions per year, until 2030.

The MME minister also pointed out that the energy sector will be the main target of annual contributions throughout the decade. Investments to be made in the energy sector could easily exceed the R$ 3 trillion mark by 2030, generating jobs and increasing competitiveness in the gas, oil, biofuels and electricity sectors.

He says: “The biggest investment made in the country has been in the energy sector, whether in oil, gas and biofuels, or in the electricity sector. These are billionaire investments – over the next ten years, we should have investments of around R$ 3 trillion, and this has been happening year after year”.

The Minister of MME also pointed out that this amount of investments in the energy segment happens because Brazil has some very important factors for investors, such as legal security and diversity of energy sources. Bento also pointed out that this year alone there will be six auctions in gas, oil and electricity.
