Brazilian Transforms His Iconic Ford Ka Into A Helicopter. The Model, Which Got The Nickname KaLicopter, Became Famous On Social Media.
The Ford Ka was never synonymous with a luxury car and debuted in the Brazilian market in 1997, making a great success due to its efficiency and economy, until being discontinued in 2021. However, a Brazilian residing in the capital of Pará decided to transform the Ford classic into a helicopter, which is an interesting evolution. Check out all the details below about the famous KaLicopter.
How Was The “KaLicopter” Created?
A video that went viral on social media showcased an interesting innovation for the Ford Ka, featuring propellers like those of a helicopter. Of course, the model was not actually launched by Ford, and it is merely a joke from the owner, who reversed the parts of his Ford Ka to make it look like a helicopter.
The video shows that the back of the vehicle has become the front, including the taillights and the trunk handle. It appears that the rear part of the model, which is the front of a regular Ford Ka, was removed to give way to the “KaLicopter” structure, complete with a tail and rotor.

While much of the industry rushes to automate production, Rolls-Royce takes over 600 hours to hand-build each car in Goodwood and still accepts orders so complex that they can take up to four years to be completed.

Smaller than the Model Y, lighter, with a single motor and designed to cost less than the current Model 3, Tesla’s new compact electric SUV is born in China and could seal the automaker’s return to the race for mass-market electric vehicles.

Kawasaki took the technology from its most brutal racing bikes, squeezed it into a 400cc 4-cylinder engine that revs to 15,000 RPM, and created the ZX-4R, a machine that shouldn’t exist in this displacement but is making experienced riders rethink everything they thought they knew about mid-range motorcycles.

The culture of cars that jump on the asphalt was born in the garages of Mexicans in the 1940s, was treated as a crime in the United States for decades, and has now become an official postage stamp of the American Postal Service in a twist that no one expected.
The viral video also shows that the interior seems to contain a central seat, and the steering wheel was cut in half to mimic that of a real helicopter.
According to an investigation conducted by UOL Carros, the model is located in a condominium near the BR-316 highway in the city of Marituba, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, Pará. The viral video was recorded three years ago when the model had not yet been finished.
Owner Comments On His “Helicopter”
The owner of the Ford Ka, businessman Mário Wilson Corrêa Júnior, said he developed the KaLicopter because he needed to attract the attention of drivers passing by the road to the condominium. He owns a marketing company specializing in the sale of condominiums.
The invention does not have the capability to take flight, as the owner himself stated; it was developed only to be a decorative piece. However, Corrêa Júnior highlights that the rotor on the tail does actually spin if there is wind.
Inside, the vehicle is equipped with a central seat and a steering wheel cut to resemble the yoke of aircraft or the controversial steering of the Tesla Model S Plaid.
The KaLicopter is a great example of Brazilians’ ability to transform cars by combining different parts from different models. It’s no coincidence that they say our creativity and ability to improvise should be studied by NASA scientists, the advanced U.S. space agency.
Learn How The Vehicle Left The Market In Brazil
After 23 years in the market, the iconic Ford Ka was discontinued, a car that made a lot of history, especially for its unique design. The car underwent several changes and upgrades throughout its history, until it finally came to an end in 2021.
The reason for the car being discontinued here in Brazil was the closure of Ford’s factories in the country; however, it continues to be manufactured in other countries. The factory closures also had an impact on other models, such as the EcoSport, which was already outdated.
The model also underwent numerous changes and evolutions since 1994. At its launch, it was the Ford Ka Sapinho, with a very European, clean look and a completely distinctive headlight. In 2001, the Ford Ka Esportivo was released, where it gained a 1.6 engine with 95 hp and 14-inch wheels. Currently, the main concern of owners here in Brazil is regarding its parts; the good thing is that it is a widely sold car, which increases the chances of finding its components.
