With the Arrival of 5G in Brazil, New Job Vacancies Will Be Generated

This year, around 50,000 job vacancies will be available in the areas of technology and innovation, according to estimates from Conexis, a consortium that includes telecom companies, and analyses from the Brazilian Association of Information Technology and Communication Companies, Brasscom.

With a commitment made to investments of about R$ 40 billion over the next few years, through the 5G frequency auction that took place at the end of 2021, telecom networks and their equipment suppliers are already hiring labor to install cables and antennas exclusively for the fifth generation of mobile telephony.

Companies are seeking qualified professionals to fill the available job vacancies and to explore the numerous possibilities that will arise with the incoming technology. However, job opportunities will not solely require hiring professionals from the technology and engineering fields. It is estimated that by 2025, around 670,000 job vacancies will arise to meet the needs of 5G installation and operation, opening doors for new professions and new professionals.

Technology Market Will Expand, Especially in Brazil

In 2020/2021, when the first studies about the development of the fifth generation of mobile telephony surfaced, talks also began about the implementation of the 5G network in Brazilian territory.

Indeed, it is confirmed that the 5G network in Brazil will have excellent coverage, along with significantly faster and more efficient speed and quality of navigation, creating the expectation that market demand will be high and favorable.

According to the Technical Education Coordinator at Colégio Fecap, Evelyn Cid, in an interview with Folha de Pernambuco in May 2021, she reported that as soon as the necessary infrastructure for 5G operation is put in place, the Brazilian market will benefit from the impacts it will cause. According to Evelyn, the number of students graduating in technology fields over the next two years will be much higher, resulting in a significant “boom” in the market.

Can 5G Already Be Considered the Best in the Market?

According to the Research and Cooperation Coordinator at César School, Felipe Ferraz, 5G can operate at a frequency ranging from 28 GHz to 39 GHz, unlike the fourth generation of mobile telephony.

4G ranges between 700 MHz and 2.5 GHz. Ferraz explained that this range is a wave frequency, and the higher this range, the faster the wave repetition will be. As a result, 5G achieves greater broadband coverage. Another very positive aspect is that 5G will reduce the latency that exists in voice and video calls.
