Chery And Huawei Just Announced A New Partnership For The Development Of An Electric Car. The Model May Deliver 700 Km Of Range And ‘Take’ The Place Of The Tesla Model S.
The electric car Luxeed S7, a result of the partnership between Chery and Huawei, was finally presented to the public this week. The model, which is set to be officially launched next month, promises to be a strong competitor to the electric car from Tesla, Model S, the sedan from billionaire Elon Musk’s automaker.
Chery And Huawei’s Electric Car Features Autonomous Technologies And Battery From CATL
Electric cars are becoming increasingly intelligent and, unsurprisingly, some current models are considered “computers on wheels” or “extensions of the smartphone.” This is happening because companies specializing in technology are becoming more involved with the automotive world.
In addition to Apple, which continues to work on its futuristic electric car project, and Xiaomi, which recently introduced its vehicle with Ferrari-like features, it is now Huawei’s turn, in partnership with Chery. The Chinese company, known for smartphones, gadgets, and tablets, has teamed up with Chery to embark on a new front.

The CEO of the electronics company, Yu Chengdong, revealed the first images of the Luxeed S7, a 100% electric sedan developed in partnership with the automotive manufacturer. And the debut electric car of the joint venture comes with a rather ambitious mission: to outpace Model S sales, one of the most registered cars in the world.
For this to be possible, the electric car resulting from the partnership between Chery and Huawei will have not only a unique design, excellent performance, and good range. The investment in cutting-edge technology, with intelligent features, was the highest of the joint venture formed by Chery and Huawei.
New Electric Car Will Be Equipped With New Wireless Technologies
The electric sedan from Huawei and Chery will be the first electric car in the world to receive the HarmonyOS 4.0 operating system, developed by Huawei, in addition to a voice assistant with a wide list of commands and a new wireless technology called NearLink, which is reportedly better than traditional Bluetooth, according to company data.
To ‘steal’ the spot from the Tesla Model S, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, the Luxeed S7 also needs to have autonomous driving capabilities, one of the trademarks of Tesla vehicles.
And the electric sedan produced by Chery and Huawei has not neglected this area. The Luxeed S7 will be equipped with Huawei ADS 2.0 technology. It features a LiDAR system, composed of 12 ultrasonic sensors, 11 high-definition cameras, and a series of 3-millimeter wave radars.
How Much Will The New Vehicle From Chery And Huawei Cost?
The model promises to be smart, technological, and, of course, powerful and economical. After all, only with a complete package will the electric sedan jointly produced by the companies stand a chance of threatening the reign of the Tesla Model S.
The electric vehicle is expected to hit the market in two versions, with one or two electric motors. The first will have a maximum power of 292 horsepower, while the more powerful version will add a second motor of 203 horsepower to the set.
The maximum speed will be the same, regardless of the version, electronically limited to 210 km/h, and the promised range is approximately 700 km per charge, in the EPA cycle, with batteries produced by CATL.
The electric car, which measures 4.97 m in length, 1.47 m in height, 1.96 m in width, and has a wheelbase of 2.95 m, does not yet have a defined price; however, the joint venture is expected to disclose some data closer to the launch, which is scheduled to happen in November.
