Chinese automakers and their old habits: cloning Volkswagen and Ford vehicles wasn't enough, the Dayun V9 truck is a blatant copy of the Volvo FH

The industry Chinese company has not yet abandoned some old habits and after shamelessly placing the Ford F150 pickup truck, the Beetle and the Volkswagen Kombi, It's time for the manufacturer Volvo to be caught by surprise and have one of its icons copied. In the automotive world, the Volvo FH is a true legend. With more than 1,4 million units sold since its launch 30 years ago, this Swedish truck has earned a special place in the global market. However, something surprising happened recently: Chinese automaker Dayun decided to create the Dayun V9, a truck that clearly took inspiration from the iconic Volvo FH. See the bold production of these Chinese trucks

Similarities that catch your eye

O Dayun V9 is a clear imitation of the Volvo FH, especially in its exterior design. When observing the V9, we noticed that elements such as the door handles, mirrors and windshield are surprisingly similar to those of the Swedish truck. The V9's large front end differs in some aspects, with straight bars in contrast to the Volvo FH's honeycomb design, but there are still notable visual contact points, such as the headlights.

The similarity doesn't end on the outside. Upon entering the Dayun V9, the driver finds a panel with a wraparound profile that, surprisingly, resembles the design of the Volvo FH. However, the instrumentation is different, being completely digital. The multifunctional steering wheel and the multimedia system screen also stand out as distinct elements compared to the FH.

Blatant copy of the truck is sold in China and Russia strategically to compete with Volvo itself

Despite the obvious similarities, Volvo does not have any partnership with Dayun. The V9 is only available in the Chinese and Russian markets, which raises questions about the Chinese brand's strategy and its competition with Volvo in specific markets. O Dayun V9 is offered with three traction options: 4×2, 6×2 and 6×4, in addition to metallic and pneumatic suspension systems.

Dayun did not save in terms of technology and resources. The V9 is equipped with features such as start&stop, air conditioning, electric trio and automatic activation of headlights and windshield wipers. The truck also features LED cabin lights, ASR and ESP systems, automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning. These characteristics demonstrate Dayun's effort to compete in the truck market.

Engine performance: Chinese copy has surprising power of 460 hp and 215 mkgf of torque

O The Dayun V9's engine is the 12.460-liter Weichai WP50E11,6, an in-line six-cylinder that generates an impressive 460 hp and 2.110 Nm of torque.. For export, Dayun offers the 6 hp Cummins Euro 510. Both engines can be combined with the 16-speed automated Fast Gear transmission, with the selector box positioned in a similar way to the Volvo FH's I-Shift system.
