The program has made available 9,000 slots in 2026, distributed across three batches of 3,000 candidates. The first two groups have already completed the registration period, while those classified in the third batch can complete the process until 11:59 PM this Wednesday.
Upon announcing the selected candidates, Detran|ES reported that the 2026 edition received 64,082 applications for the nine thousand slots. In addition to the first license, the program covers procedures for adding and changing categories, according to the modalities provided.
Registration is Just the First Step
Confirming the information online does not complete the process. After registering, the beneficiary has 15 calendar days to contact the designated driving school and formalize the initiation of the licensing process.
From this initiation, the necessary procedures for obtaining or changing the National Driver’s License begin. These include biometric data collection, medical exams, and, in situations specified by the program’s rules, psychological assessment.
Candidates for categories that require toxicological testing must also complete this procedure at an accredited facility. After the initial evaluations, participants move on to theoretical instruction and other required stages based on their chosen modality.
The process includes a theoretical exam, practical training, and a driving test. The rules, deadlines, and conditions applicable to beneficiaries are compiled on the official CNH Social page maintained by Detran|ES.
The program covers the main services included in the licensing process, allowing the beneficiary to complete the required procedures without charge as specified in the rules of CNH Social. There are also specific conditions for retakes and additional classes in cases of failure.
However, the fee waiver depends on fulfilling the stipulated obligations. Online registration marks the beginning of a series of steps that require the candidate’s continued engagement until they obtain their first license, addition, or change of category.
Process Must Be Completed Within 12 Months
After initiating the process at the driving school, the participant has up to 12 months to complete the procedure. This timeline applies to First Licensing, Addition, and Change of Category and starts counting from the initiation of the process.
During this period, beneficiaries must complete exams, theoretical training, practical classes, and tests within the deadlines relevant to each stage. Failing to meet the requirements may interrupt participation when it results in losing the conditions established by the program.
The rules also stipulate consequences for those who are called but do not complete their enrollment. Candidates who miss the defined period may be disqualified and be barred for three years from participating in a new CNH Social selection.
The penalty is greater for beneficiaries who enroll but later abandon the process or fail to meet the required obligations. In such cases, the disqualification period for reapplying for a position can be as long as five years.
Thus, confirming enrollment does not absolve the participant of their responsibilities. Candidates must follow the guidelines issued by the agency, adhere to future deadlines, and attend specified locations when in-person attendance is required.
Alternates Can Fill Vacancies in November
Those who participated in the 2026 selection and did not rank among the initial nine thousand may still be called if spots open up due to withdrawals, disqualifications, or failure to comply with requirements by beneficiaries who were previously called.
The schedule plans to announce a single list of alternates on November 1. These candidates may fill opportunities that remain available after the initial three batches addressed by Detran|ES.
Enrollment for alternates is set to take place between November 1 and 15. This call does not represent a new selection, as it is aimed at individuals who already participated in this year’s process and were left out of the initial nine thousand positions.
The number of alternates actually called will depend on the vacancies released throughout the process. Until the list is published, participants awaiting a potential call should monitor the official publications related to the program.
How to Enroll
For those in positions 6,001 to 9,000, the available procedure is enrollment, not a new application for CNH Social. Candidates should visit the official program area on the Detran|ES website, select the online enrollment option, provide the requested information, and complete the submission; after confirmation, a 15-day period begins to visit the designated driving school and formally open the licensing process.
