Mota-Engil Signed Contracts With Mining Company Vale and Petrobras for Maintenance Services at REDUC in RJ, Among Other Projects in Brazil

“Mota-Engil informs that it has signed several significant contracts in Brazil in the business segments of Engineering and Construction and Oil & Gas, a market in which it operates as Mota-Engil and with its subsidiary ECB”, the group indicated in a statement yesterday (10/02).

About the Million-Euro Contracts of Construction Company Mota-Engil in Brazil

This concerns a contract signed, through ECB, with mining company VALE, worth €28 million, for the execution of works on the Torto Dam in Minas Gerais, for the construction of an earth dam.

Mota-Engil also signed a four-year contract valued at €39 million for the maintenance of offshore oil platforms, with onshore manufacturing at the industrial base in Macaé.

Additionally, the company saw an increase in the contract with Petrobras by €8 million.

“In this regard, it is also noteworthy that a new contract was signed with a validity of 30 months at the REDUC refinery, located in Rio de Janeiro, related to the construction and assembly of piping, electrical parts, instrumentation, as well as all mechanical work and installation of compressors including commissioning and assisted operation, for a total amount of €22 million, bringing the total of projects in this segment in the order backlog attributed by Petrobras to approximately €178 million”, it added.

About Chinese CCCC’s Projects in Brazil

The Chinese infrastructure giant CCCC (China Communications Construction Company), which already bought 80% of Brazilian Concremat, has eight more companies operating in Brazil and won the auction for the Salvador-Itaparica bridge, advancing in Brazil at the beginning of this month.

The process of CCCC’s purchase of part of Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil, signed in 2020, has now reached Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense).

The Brazilian agency has begun analyzing the negotiation between the two companies that have operations in the country. The Portuguese company, which also owns shares in Ecoss Ambiental, an urban cleaning company in São Paulo, has eight other companies in Brazil.
