The Brava Star, a drilling ship from Constellation, and Halliburton’s integrated drilling services were at the service of Shell between March 2019 and July 2020, in the South Gato do Mato and Alto Cabo Frio Oeste blocks in the Santos basin, and in the BC-10 in the Campos basin. During this period, the ship achieved a record performance in drilling in the pre-salt, completing the operation in 18 days at the GDM4 well, located in Gato do Mato. The shortest time ever recorded in the pre-salt.
“Shell’s campaign was one of the most important for Constellation, demonstrating the company’s ability to challenge the limits of the pre-salt and to work with a diverse customer base, ensuring efficiency and safety,” comments Constellation CEO, Rodrigo Ribeiro.
Of the seven wells drilled by Brava Star during Shell’s campaign, in water depths between 1600 meters and 2600 meters, the four located in the pre-salt recorded performance records. The first of them was in the top quartile of performance. The last three were considered Best in Class by Shell, meaning they established performance records compared to more than 180 wells already drilled in the Brazilian pre-salt.
