With teamwork, sugarcane mill owners are able to maintain high production and make the product cheaper, leaving money for structural investment in the industry
Owners of Sugar Cane mills in the interior of Paraná obtained an increase in the production and sale of raw material and derivatives in the industry. Around 2,4 million tons of sugar were exported in the last sugarcane harvest, bringing very positive results for the sugar industries.

The union of plant owners was essential for the state, along with sugar mills and industries, to obtain this result. Together, they created transshipment terminals with the capacity to store up to 100 tons of the product, reducing costs and increasing competitiveness in the export market, ensuring profit for everyone in the group.
Production and Export
When asked about the success in exporting the product, the president of the Association of Bioenergy Producers of the State of Paraná (Alcopar), Miguel Tranin said:
“We created a product standard, whether it is produced by any mill, it is similar [...] When it is shipped from Porto, we know that the product is the same and that gives speed that brings gains to mills in the state”
All the sugar produced in the state's mills is shipped along the railroads and goes to the Port of Paranaguá. Another issue that brought even more competitiveness to industries and plants in Paraná was the idea of creating an exclusive shipping terminal for this production area, which has the capacity to hold about 36 thousand tons of raw material and derivatives per day on ships in port.
“Loading speed helps ship boarding faster and faster. At harvest time, the period varies from three to five days” reported Eric Ferreira de Souza, manager of the Departure Terminal, explaining the interconnection of the entire system.
On the Asian continent, the sale of sugar generated US$ 350 million, destined mainly to Iraq.
