What do you think about having an ice-cold beer without having to pay any money for it? A company in Australia is working to make this a trend in the country. The offer is from Carlton And United Breweries (CUB). The offer is to provide Victoria Bitter beer to families who have solar energy credits in their homes. The company believes it is the first in the world to do this.
Brewery Wants to Obtain Solar Energy Credits in an Unusual Way
CUB is working hard to use 100% renewable energy by 2025. Because of this, the company has already purchased solar energy panels to install at the factory. Additionally, it has contracts with solar energy suppliers to help reduce the demand for electricity. However, since this is still not enough, the company is proposing to buy energy credits by paying with beer cans instead of cash.
Brian Phan, marketing manager at CUB, spoke about the promotion: ”The only thing better than drinking a Big Cold Beer in the Australian sun is earning beer while you do it”. The initiative has been well received in the country, further highlighting the beer already well known for initiatives in the region. The promotion works as follows: for every solar energy credit worth U$ 23, CUB gives beer worth U$ 38, which proves to be very advantageous for holders of solar energy credits.

Target Will Be Met by 2025
Investments in solar energy have been growing year after year. Companies are being pressured to change their habits and seek ways to protect the environment. It seems that brewery CUB has found a rather unusual way to obtain more credits and get closer to the target of 100% renewable energy by 2025.
