Ternium Brasil, Owner of a Steel Plant Located in Santa Cruz, Announced an Investment of US$ 40 Million, About R$ 210 Million, in the Construction of a Technical School in Rio de Janeiro.
The technical school in Rio de Janeiro will be named Roberto Rocca and is expected to be completed by 2025. Designed to teach electromechanics and mechatronics, the unit pays tribute to the Italian-Argentine businessman who died in 2003 and was created by the newly established Ternium Institute.
According to Fernanda Candeias, director of the Ternium Institute, “the focus of our actions is always to develop Santa Cruz.” The project will feature infrastructure that will also be used by the community, such as an auditorium and sports courts.
Ternium, the steel company acquired from German Thyssenkrupp five years ago, is preparing to build a school with a maximum capacity of 576 students. Located along the Rio-Santos Highway, the school will occupy 8,800 square meters of constructed area on a plot of 161,600 square meters.

Couple leaves the city and builds a steel frame house in the countryside: sandwich roof, beams and columns secure the roof, X-braces prevent the walls from moving, and the 3-month deadline tightens.

A simple technique of wetting the brick before laying it prevents cracks, improves the adhesion of the mortar, reduces fissures, and ensures stronger walls and more durable constructions.

The government opens the vault and deposits R$ 2.6 billion for the construction of Brazil’s first underwater tunnel, with a length of 1.5 km, 870 m under the sea, a total project cost of R$ 6.8 billion, and a 30-year concession.

Only 46 meters remain for Brazil and Paraguay to connect via the Bioceanic Route bridge, the project that will link the Atlantic to the Pacific by land and change the logistical map of four countries in South America.
Construction of the technical school in Rio de Janeiro will begin in three months and it is expected to be ready in 2025, when the school activities will start with 192 first-year high school students. The financial responsibility for the new school lies with Ternium, with annual costs estimated to reach US$ 4 million (R$ 21 million).
Students will receive various scholarships, but none will be full. The tuition values have not yet been disclosed, but they are expected to be affordable and in line with local income. This new technical unit will be called Colégio Estadual Erich Walter Heine, honoring the president of CSA who died in the Air France accident in 2011.
