Statkraft and Ventos de São Vitorino, renewable energy companies, have closed agreements to invest nearly R$ 1 billion in wind power plants in Brotas de Macaúbas, Uibaí, and Ibipeba, in Bahia.

With an investment of R$ 975 million, the wind power plants are expected to be installed in the municipalities of Brotas de Macaúbas by Statkraft, and Uibaí and Ibipeba by São Vitorino, in Bahia.
The agreements were signed between renewable energy companies and the Department of Economic Development (SDE) on June 8 (Tuesday). During the construction phase of the wind power plants, 330 new direct job openings and an additional 100 indirect jobs are anticipated. During the operations of the renewable energy complex, the generation of four direct jobs and eight indirect jobs is expected.

Secretary of Economic Development Comments on Wind Power Plants in Bahia
According to the Secretary of Economic Development, Nelson Leal, Bahia stands out among the states in the wind energy sector, which attracts the attention of investors and renewable energy companies. In addition to these advantages, the legal certainty concerning issues with the State Government also contributes to new investments in wind energy coming to Bahia.
Leal also notes that the agreements signed by the renewable energy companies include a commitment to promote training courses and programs to develop specialized labor in Bahia to be employed at the future plants, as well as hiring companies from Bahia to carry out civil constructions and to purchase the necessary inputs for the implementation and operation of the plants.
Meet the Renewable Energy Companies Investing in Bahia
Statkraft is an international company focused on clean energy and one of the largest generators in Europe. The group produces energy from gas, wind, solar, and hydro sources, and also provides district heating. The company has around 4,500 employees spread across 17 countries. In Brazil, the group controls approximately 18 hydro and wind energy generation assets, with about 450 MW of installed capacity.
On the other hand, Ventos de São Vitorino is a company founded in 2012 and registered with Solutudo in the sector of Distribution Stations and Networks, Generation and Transmission of Electric Energy. The company is located on Rodovia Doutor Mendel Steincruch, in Maracanaú.
