Taller than the Statue of Liberty, thousands of wind turbines are being planted in the middle of U.S. fields, creating two-story farms where corn and soybeans grow below while the wind turns into electricity above.
The executive of Statkraft also spoke about optimistic business perspectives in Brazil and about the goal of tripling the company’s installed capacity in the country by 2025.
“Today, we have 450 MW installed, among wind projects, small hydroelectric plants, and larger hydroelectric facilities. The idea is to triple our installed capacity by 2025. This is our forecast,” he said.
About the Projects
The director of the Norwegian company also talked about investments in the two wind farms in Bahia, “Although we have enabled 375 MW, these two projects are around 500 MW in power. The first is a 420 MW complex and a second project of approximately 80 MW. From a technical standpoint, the smaller project, Serra de Mangabeira, is practically an expansion of another project we already operate in Bahia. Meanwhile, Ventos de Santa Eugênia is a new project that we just acquired. This undertaking is part of a much larger complex,” he explained.
Statkraft currently has 450 MW installed in Brazil, among wind projects, small hydroelectric plants, and larger hydroelectric facilities, and wants to continue working to expand the projects it considers profitable.
