Last week, the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) announced a partnership with the Energy Research Company (EPE) for new investments in the Brazilian fuel sector. The technical-operational cooperation agreement provides for the creation of technical studies in the Brazilian sector.
In a note, the ANP stated that “The partnership aims to increase the synergy between the two bodies, facilitating the development of actions aimed at the oil, natural gas and biofuels sector and public policy proposals that encourage increased competitiveness and attract investments in the fuel sector”.
In addition, according to the entities, the partnership aims to guarantee national supply, especially with regard to investments in the fuels. With the current energy market in transition, the undertaking favors the fuel scenario in Brazil, after long periods of bitterness and neglect.
What to expect for 2023
According to the entities, the partnership will be valid for five years, and may be successively extended for the same period. However, the agreement does not provide for the transfer of financial resources between the entities.

Procon de Navegantes slip guarantees stability in average fuel prices in Santa Catarina
Last week, a survey carried out by Procon de Navegantes, in Santa Catarina, pointed out that there was a small variation in fuel prices, allowing stability between the months of December and January in the state.
According to the report, the average value remained stable for common gasoline and additives for diesel S10, compared to the same period of the previous month. In practice, this represents a clear sign of stability, especially given the uncertainties in the fuels in Brazil.
However, the report pointed out a significant variation for ethanol, with an increase of 12%. The bulletin also reported that prices practiced in Navegantes are below the state average, except for Diesel S-10 and Ethanol, which continued to be above average prices.
In all, 14 fuel points were checked in the Municipality. In December, there was also an inspection of the quality and quantity of fuel at four other stations. The inspection took place through the administrative processes of the Inspection Sector of Procon de Navegantes/SC, in partnership with the Oil National Agency – ANP.
Such inspections by Procon occur due to suggestions from the population about the average value of fuels. In this way, the entity performs monthly actions on the quality and quantity of fuel consumed in the municipality.
Last week, data from the Sinpeb (Blumenau Petroleum Derivatives Retail Trade Union) pointed out that even with the freezing of fuel prices, several cities in Santa Catarina continued to raise fuel prices.
In this way, it is expected that the new measures of the Federal Government – such as the exemption from PIS/PASEP – in addition to investments in the fuel sector, will bring a new price perspective for the state. However, the posts still continue to charge an amount above the frozen, even with constant notifications from Procon.
