Galaxy Z Fold 7 Supports Up to 500,000 Folds and Shows That Samsung’s New Generation of Foldables Is Stronger Than Ever. Discover the Improvements and Specifications of the 2025 Flagship.

For years, foldable phones have been met with skepticism. Despite their futuristic appeal, many people still wondered: can this flexible screen really withstand the rigors of daily use? With the new Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung seems to have provided a definitive — and impressive — answer: the model withstood an incredible 500,000 folds, according to official certification tests.

The number is not just a technical statistic. It marks a 185% leap compared to the Fold 6, which supported up to 200,000 opening cycles before showing failures. This evolution positions the Z Fold 7 as one of the most durable foldable smartphones ever produced and demonstrates that the new generation of the Galaxy Z line was designed with real durability in mind — something essential for those who invest heavily in this type of device.

500,000 Folds: What Does That Mean in Practice?

The durability test was conducted by Bureau Veritas, an independent international certifier, under controlled conditions: a constant temperature of 25 °C and a simulation of real usage. The machine performed 500,000 folding and unfolding cycles in 13 days, without the panel showing significant failures.

In practical terms: a user who folds the phone 200 times a day (which is already a lot) could use the Fold 7 for about 6 years without functional loss of the hinge. A more conservative user, who folds it 100 times a day, would have a functional device for up to 10 years, according to the simulation.

In other words, the Z Fold 7 has the potential to last longer than many regular smartphones, even with its folding mechanism — something that just a few years ago seemed unimaginable.

More Mature Flexible Screen

The internal display of the Z Fold 7 follows Samsung’s premium line, with a 8-inch LTPO Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel, a QXGA+ (2184×1968 px) resolution, and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The display features structural improvements that make it more resistant to twists and repeated folds, and it also has reinforcement in the protective layer and a new adhesive with greater thermal elasticity.

The external screen is also a 6.5-inch LTPO AMOLED, with FHD+ resolution and 120 Hz, designed for those who prefer to use the device closed most of the time — a common behavior among Fold users.

Lighter and Refined Structure

Despite the leap in durability, the Fold 7 managed to reduce weight and thickness. When opened, it measures only 4.2 mm thick and weighs 215 g — astonishing numbers for a device with such mechanical complexity.

The new droplet-shaped hinge improves closure without leaving gaps and reduces stress at the folding points. Samsung also maintained IP48 certification, ensuring protection against dust and water splashes — something rare among devices with moving parts.

High-End Hardware with Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy

Inside, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 delivers everything expected from a 2025 flagship. It is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, a customized version of Qualcomm’s new top-tier chip, focusing on graphics performance and energy efficiency.

There are versions with 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage, running Android 16 with One UI 8.0. The interface brings specific features for large screens, such as multitasking with three simultaneous apps, floating windows, and support for DeX mode.

Robust Cameras with 200 MP Sensor

The main camera of the Fold 7 now features a 200 MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture and optical stabilization, capable of capturing images with impressive detail and solid performance even in low-light environments.

The rear set is completed with:

  • 12 MP Ultra-Wide
  • 10 MP Telephoto with Optical Zoom and PDAF

At the front, there are two 10 MP cameras: one on the external screen and another under the internal display — discreetly embedded to not disrupt the full-screen content.

Balanced Battery and Cutting-Edge Connectivity

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 comes with a 4,400 mAh battery, which, while not massive, offers reasonable autonomy thanks to the efficiency of the new chip. Charging is up to 25 W wired and supports wireless and reverse charging.

In terms of connectivity, it boasts the latest technology: 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. The sound is stereo and optimized with Dolby Atmos, ensuring a complete experience for videos and gaming.

If in the first generations the question was “will it hold up?”, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 seems to respond firmly: yes, and for many years. The durability of 500,000 folds represents a milestone for the category of foldable smartphones, showing that technology is finally reaching the maturity level for prolonged and everyday use.

For those seeking a phone with a large screen, top-notch performance, and proven durability, the Fold 7 emerges as one of the most comprehensive and reliable devices available today — and a strong argument for anyone still hesitant to adopt a foldable model.
