Renascer Extractive Reserve Will Be One of the First Localities of the Mais Luz para a Amazônia Program
The Renascer Extractive Reserve Renascer is located in the municipality of Prainha, in Pará. The area covers approximately 400,000 hectares and was created in 2009, after a long period of processing in the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic.
This region will be one of the first areas to be served by the Mais Luz para a Amazônia Program, with a forecast to provide electric energy through solar energy to 205 families, approximately 820 people, by the end of 2020.
The Renascer Reserve has significant environmental relevance as it encompasses floodplain ecosystems and other areas that protect aquatic ecosystems and even urban populations in the Amazon through fishery resources, which are still underrepresented in Brazil’s protected area system.
