Called More Light for the Amazon Program, the project aims to distribute electricity to the population that does not yet have access to this public service in the Legal Amazon or that has generation of non-renewable energy source.
For the supply of electric energy, generation systems that use solar energy will be used, in order to collaborate with the preservation of the Amazon and the reduction of the emission of gases that cause the greenhouse effect. In addition, this initiative also aims to encourage the use of renewable resources such as solar energy.
Government program that encourages the use of solar energy will benefit families in Pará
The forecast is that 10.593 families, that is, around 42 people, will be covered by the More Light for the Amazon Program in the period from 2020 to 2022, according to the Term of Commitment.
Access to electricity enables the social and economic development of communities located in the Legal Amazon, in addition to providing an improvement in the quality of life of this population through the use of sustainable resources in the region, such as solar energy.
RENASCER Extractive Reserve will be one of the first locations of the Mais Luz para a Amazônia Program
The Extractive Reserve reborn is located in the municipality of Prainha, in Pará. The area has around 400 hectares and was created in 2009, after a long period of processing at the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic.
This region will be one of the first areas to be covered by the More Light for the Amazon Program, which is expected to supply electricity through solar energy to 205 families, approximately 820 people, by the end of 2020.
The Renascer reserve has great environmental relevance, because it covers floodplain ecosystems and other areas that protect aquatic ecosystems and even urban populations in the Amazon through fish, and which are still underrepresented in the system of protected areas in Brazil.
