ENGIE invested BRL 2,3 billion in the construction of the Santo Agostinho Wind Farm, in RN, bringing many job openings to the region

Rio Grande do Norte remains in the lead as the largest national producer of wind power, and will now receive a billionaire investment from the largest private energy company in Brazil, ENGIE. The R$ 2,3 billion investment was made for the construction of the new Santo Agostinho Wind Farm Complex, and promises to offer up to 2023 job openings by XNUMX, when the works will be completed.

The company announced that it is already in the process of hiring 800 employees and that another 200 vacancies will be opened later this year. Worldwide, the company has more than 170 employees. Implementation of the Santo Agostinho wind farm began in 2021 and will be completed in 2023, with Siemens wind turbines and job openings in the Northeast

The initial design of the Santo Agostinho Wind Farm Complex will have a generation capacity of 434 MW, based on the presence of 70 wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa, producing 6,2 MW each. The works began in January 2021 and are expected to be completed by March 2023, which could be a great opportunity for those looking for job openings in the northeast region.

ENGIE is a large company committed to the search for a transition from an energy matrix to more renewable ones. It aims at carbon neutrality and sustainability solutions. With the projects already in operation in Brazil, ENGIE is already able to produce 10 GW through its 69 plants, responsible for 6% of the national production of wind energy.

This new complex in the northeast will further expand the company's business and permanence in Brazil, stimulating the labor market with new job openings. After the completion of works in Santo Agostinho, the company will increase its presence in the free energy market and encourage the use of wind energy and renewable sources, reducing the emission of greenhouse gases and helping to reduce the severity of global warming.

According to the Brazilian Association of Energy Traders (Abraceel), this wind farm in the Northeast will direct all its energy to the free market. This sector is already responsible for 30% of all electricity consumed nationally, and thus will tend to gain even more strength.

Why does ENGIE focus on the Northeast?

As noted by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) and the Atlas of Brazilian Wind Potential, produced by the Reference Center for Solar and Wind Energy Sérgio de S.Brito, the Northeast, especially Rio Grande do Norte, is the most promising region for wind power generation in Brazil. This implies a potential capacity of 500 GW, equivalent to almost three times the current total national capacity.

In addition, ENGIE Brasil already has other plants in operation in the region with very satisfactory results in terms of wind power generation and job openings. At the moment, the company has plants in Ceará, with the Trairi Wind Farm (212,6 MW), and in Bahia, with the Umburanas Wind Farms (360 MW), Campo Largo Phase 1 (326,7 MW) and Wind Farm Campo Largo Phase 2 (361,2 MW).
