eB Capital announces investment in biological solutions platform for biomethane production
eB Capital, an alternative investment manager, unveiled its new energy transition thesis and announced a investment of BRL 600 million on a biosolutions platform. The company's partnership with Sebigás Cótica is aimed at producing biomethane, carbon dioxide and fertilizers from agro-industrial waste.
This initiative is part of eB Capital's fund for sustainable infrastructure, led by partners Eduardo Sirotsky Melzer, Luciana Antonini Ribeiro and Pedro Parente. The project, called Bioo, will be a biogas and organic waste treatment platform that will produce biomethane and other products, controlled by eB Capital and operated by Sebigás Cótica.
Investment and strategic partnerships to build the platform that produces biomethane
Half of the total investment of BRL 600 million will come from equity, while the others will R $ million 300 are being raised with financial institutions and institutional funds. The platform's first plant will be completed with its own resources, and the structuring and construction of the other units will be carried out with the financing obtained.

The expectation is that the entire amount will be allocated by the end of 2025, with the first unit of the platform going into operation by the end of next year, in the city of Triunfo, Rio Grande do Sul. This plant already has a contract signed with the distributor Sulgás to supply biomethane directly through the company's gas pipeline.
Energy Transition Market represents more than BRL 130 billion in investments for the next five years
eB Capital will play an active role in building the platform in partnership with Sebigás Cótica, aiming to ensure its scalability and expansion. Pedro Parente points out that the Energy Transition market in Brazil represents more than BRL 130 billion in investments for the next five years. The association with Sebigás Cótica is in line with eB Capital's investment strategy in businesses with growth potential and positive impact on society.
What is biomethane?
Biomethane is a type of renewable gas produced from the decomposition of organic waste, such as food waste, agro-industrial waste and sewage. It is obtained through the process of anaerobic digestion, in which microorganisms break down organic matter and produce methane, which can be purified and used as a clean and sustainable energy source.
Biomethane has properties similar to fossil natural gas and can be injected directly into the natural gas network, used as a vehicle fuel or as an alternative to fossil fuels in industrial processes. Its production contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the use of organic waste and the promotion of the circular economy.
