eB Capital Announces Investment in Biological Solutions Platform for Biogas Production
eB Capital, an alternative investment manager, revealed its new energy transition thesis and announced a investment of R$ 600 million in a biosolutions platform. The company’s partnership with Sebigás Cótica aims to produce biogas, carbon dioxide, and fertilizers from agro-industrial waste.
This initiative is part of the fund dedicated to sustainable infrastructure by eB Capital, led by partners Eduardo Sirotsky Melzer, Luciana Antonini Ribeiro, and Pedro Parente. The project, called Bioo, will be a biogas and organic waste treatment platform that will produce biogas and other products, with oversight from eB Capital and operations managed by Sebigás Cótica.
Investment and Strategic Partnerships for Building the Biogas Production Platform
Half of the total investment of R$ 600 million will come from the company’s own capital, while the other R$ 300 million is being raised from financial institutions and institutional funds. The first plant of the platform will be completed with the own resources, and the structuring and construction of additional units will be carried out with the financing obtained.

Every time a river flows into the sea, an amount of energy equivalent to a 120-meter waterfall is silently wasted, but Japan has just inaugurated the world’s first power plant that captures this waste and transforms it into electricity 24 hours a day without sun, wind, or fuel.

Silicon Valley bets on a 100-hour battery that uses carbon and oxygen to store renewable energy for days and could turn a little-known chemical system into an alternative to critical metal batteries to tackle prolonged blackouts.

How biogas in agribusiness transportation guarantees significant savings and unlocks energy independence in the countryside now in Foz do Iguaçu.
The expectation is that the entire amount will be allocated by the end of 2025, with the first unit of the platform expected to be operational by the end of next year, in the city of Triunfo, Rio Grande do Sul. This plant already has a contract with the distributor Sulgás for biogas supply directly into the company’s gas pipeline.
Energy Transition Market Represents Over R$ 130 Billion in Investments for the Next Five Years
eB Capital will play an active role in building the platform in partnership with Sebigás Cótica, aiming to ensure its scalability and expansion. Pedro Parente highlights that the Energy Transition market in Brazil represents over R$ 130 billion in investments for the next five years. The partnership with Sebigás Cótica aligns with eB Capital’s investment strategy in businesses with growth potential and positive societal impact.
What is Biogas?
Biogas is a type of renewable gas produced from the decomposition of organic waste, such as food scraps, agro-industrial waste, and sewage. It is obtained through the process of anaerobic digestion, in which microorganisms break down organic matter and produce methane, which can be purified and used as a clean and sustainable energy source.
Biogas has properties similar to fossil natural gas and can be directly injected into the natural gas grid, used as a vehicle fuel or as an alternative to fossil fuels in industrial processes. Its production contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, utilizing organic waste, and promoting the circular economy.
