According to ANP, JBS Biodiesel Is Among the Top Five Companies Approved to Have Certification to Issue Decarbonization Credits

RenovaBio, which will start tomorrow (24), establishes mechanisms to mobilize ethanol and biodiesel industries, such as JBS, to comply with strict rules against deforestation for agricultural expansion.
In up to a decade, through CBios, the government’s initiative aims to remove approximately 670 million tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, contributing to meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement. Additionally, it should provide financial incentives to producers, allowing payment for environmental services rendered.

As a result, dozens of companies have participated in the process in search of approval to issue CBios. By December 14, 47 companies were in the public consultation phase aiming to issue the certificates, and five had been approved, according to ANP, including biodiesel units BSBios and JBS.
The Agency also stated that it believes the companies approved in the coming months will be sufficient for Brazil to meet the 2020 target, whose decarbonization is about 28.7 million tons.
