Entrepreneurs Like Luciano Hang Criticize the PEC That Proposes the End of the 6×1 Schedule, Highlighting Possible Increases in Costs and Prices. The Debate Generates Controversies Among Workers and Productive Sectors.

The discussion about the 6×1 work schedule, which guarantees workers a paid weekly break, has gained national attention with the recent presentation of a Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC).

Among divergent opinions, a well-known voice from the business sector, Luciano Hang, owner of the Havan store chain, expressed harsh criticism of the proposal, raising questions about the economic and social impacts of the measure.

On the night of Thursday (14), Hang used his social media to share his views on the topic, stating that the PEC would be “populism” and would create “a controversy where none is needed.”

“Brazilians do not want to work less; they want to live better, with more comfort, security, health, education, and independence,” declared the businessman.

Repercussions Among Entrepreneurs and Entities

Hang’s position reflects a concern shared by entities such as the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), and Fecomercio-SP.

According to these groups, the end of the 6×1 schedule could overload companies, increase product costs, and consequently reduce competitiveness in the market.

According to Hang, internal calculations made by Havan indicate that the change in the work schedule would result in a 70% increase in operational costs.

“This would directly impact consumer prices and wages, as entrepreneurs are cost transmitters. In the end, it is the population that suffers,” he warned.

The businessman also shared the opinion of an employee during the inauguration of a unit in Rio Grande do Sul: “I prefer to work on Sundays than to ask for a job on Monday.”

For him, this comment exemplifies the priority of many workers: financial stability and job security.

Political and Social Context

The PEC was proposed by Deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL) and has reached the 171 signatures necessary to advance in the Chamber of Deputies.

After the signature conference, the text will proceed for analysis in the Constitution, Justice, and Citizenship Commission (CCJ).

Although Hang is a well-known supporter of conservative governments, his position does not reflect unanimity within right-wing parties.

Parliamentarians like Cleitinho Azevedo (Republicans-MG) and Fernando Rodolfo (PL-PE) have expressed support for the proposal, indicating that the debate transcends party ideologies.

Meanwhile, popular support for the PEC is also growing. An online petition has already surpassed 2.9 million signatures, showing that the topic mobilizes both workers and entrepreneurs.

Potential Impacts on the Business Sector

The change in the work schedule brings significant challenges for sectors such as retail and industry, where flexible schedules are often essential for maintaining competitive operations.

Hang emphasized that abrupt changes could trigger a chain reaction, with negative effects on the economy as a whole.

“Increasing costs for businesses means fewer hiring, lower wages, and higher prices. This goes against what workers really want: better living conditions and not depending on state aid,” he stated.

What Is at Stake With the End of the 6×1 Schedule?

The debate on the 6×1 schedule raises important questions: to what extent can reducing work hours improve quality of life without compromising the sustainability of businesses? On one side, workers seek a balance between personal and professional life.

On the other, employers warn of the risks associated with measures that, according to them, could jeopardize businesses and cause unemployment.

And you, what do you think about the 6×1 schedule? Would this change be beneficial for everyone, or would it bring more challenges for workers and businesses? Share your opinion in the comments!
