Magazine Luiza Will Open More Than 50 Stores in Rio de Janeiro, Creating Jobs and Income for Thousands of Cariocas
The state of Rio de Janeiro will have many job openings. The company from São Paulo will inaugurate a total of 23 stores next week, out of a total of 50 that will be operational in the state by the end of 2021. Magazine Luiza’s investments in Rio de Janeiro will directly generate around three job openings.
The Magazine Luiza project arrives in Rio de Janeiro with the brand, featuring the presence of Anitta and Lu, the company’s virtual girl. Magalu will increase its presence in Rio de Janeiro by renovating BRT buses, where free Wi-Fi will be provided for transport users, as well as the renovation of three SuperVia stations.
Million-Dollar Investment by Magazine Luiza in Rio de Janeiro Will Generate Many Job Openings
In addition to opening its stores, creating many job openings in Rio de Janeiro, the company is also focusing on sustainability by investing in bicycles in the city. The total investment by the company has not been disclosed; however, based on the investments the company made in Brasília last year, where R$ 25 million were spent on 7 stores, it is estimated that the company will invest around R$ 100 million in Rio.

Eduardo Galanternickk, Vice President of Business at Magazine Luiza, spoke about the investments in Rio de Janeiro: “This entry is not just about physical Magalu stores in Rio, as we already had e-commerce. When we open the stores, we bring a series of improvements to customer experience, such as reduced delivery times, the option for in-store pickup, and product returns in store.”

Magazine Luiza has grown significantly in recent years throughout Brazil; however, the same was not true in Rio de Janeiro, where the company used the lack of security in the state as justification. However, that time is behind, with Magazine Luiza opening a distribution center in Xérem, in Duque de Caxias, last year. The investment in the city increases job openings in the region, providing income for thousands of carioca families.
