Letters of Intent Were Signed at the Bahia Economic Development Secretariat. Thousands of Jobs Will Be Created
Last Wednesday, June 23, letters of intent were signed at the Economic Development Secretariat of the state of Bahia, to receive investments of up to R$ 3.7 billion and generate 3,900 jobs with the following projects: wind energy, electronics factory, and mattress industry. Job Creation in the Interior of the State of Bahia
The company Casa dos Ventos is expected to invest over R$ 3.7 billion in Antônio Gonçalves, São Gabriel, and Mirangaba to implement wind energy plants aimed at electricity generation. Together, the plants will have a projected installed capacity of up to 4,098 Gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year. During the construction phase, 3,800 new jobs will be promoted. In the operational phase, 23 direct jobs will be created.
In addition to Casa dos Ventos, Statkraft and Ventos de São Vitorino, renewable energy companies, have signed agreements to invest nearly R$ 1 billion in wind farms in Brotas de Macaúbas, Uibaí, and Ibipeba, Bahia. With an investment of R$ 975 million, the wind farms are expected to be installed in the municipalities of Brotas de Macaúbas by Statkraft and Uibaí and Ibipeba by São Vitorino, in Bahia.

During the construction phase of the wind farms, 330 new direct job openings and an additional 100 indirect jobs are expected. During the operations of the renewable energy complex, four direct job positions and eight indirect positions are anticipated.
Other Companies That Will Make Investments in the State
In Feira de Santana, R$ 15 million in private investments will be allocated for the installation of the Ameko Industry, which will manufacture computers, monitors, processors, keyboards, and mice. Mattress industries will make investments for the production of beds, mattresses, and upholstered furniture. The companies are expected to generate 400 direct and indirect jobs during the installation of the units in Bahia.
In Cruz das Almas, the Cruzalmense Upholstery and Mattress Industry will install an industrial unit for the production of foam mattresses, wooden mattresses, spring mattresses, box mattresses, and upholstery, with investments of up to R$ 2 million. The production capacity of the industry in the state of Bahia will be up to 75,300 units per year.

The government of the state of Bahia signed a letter of intent with the São Francisco Plant to install the third sugar-alcohol plant of the Agroindustrial and Bioenergy Pole of the Médio São Francisco. The new venture will be dedicated to the production of anhydrous and hydrated ethanol, animal feed, and electricity. Initial investments in the new plant may reach R$ 400 million, and the expectation is that 8,000 jobs will be created in the state of Bahia.
Pedro Leite, director of the plant, says they are happy to participate in this initiative of the Bahia government, of the Bioenergy Pole in the Médio São Francisco, a region with wonderful potential from the standpoint of bioenergy, the zero-carbon agenda, and the equalization of greenhouse gas emissions, which plays a significant role in the energy matrix of the state. Leite also states that they are very confident in starting operations immediately and contributing to development in the state of Bahia by generating income and jobs.
