Price survey in the border region points to bedding and clothing items with prices below market average, highlighting sheets and clothes sold by weight or unit, which drives shopping tourism and supplies the national hotel sector.

The retail sector in Ciudad del Este, on the border with Brazil, registers aggressive offers on bedding, table, and bath items, with high-thread-count sheets and clothing sold from US$ 0.50.

A report from the channel Paraguayan Portal conducted in the Paraguayan commercial region detailed the pricing of a store that operates with a hybrid sales system of weight and unit, attracting hoteliers, restaurant owners, and Brazilian resellers seeking expanded profit margins through the importation of complete bedding sets.

Cost Reduction in Bedding Lines for the Hotel Sector

The inspection conducted in the local market revealed a pricing strategy focused on volume, especially in large-sized items essential for hospitality. King-size sheets, previously priced at US$ 10, have been adjusted downwards, currently selling for US$ 9.

In addition to the basic line, the border market offers products with superior technical specifications for high-end establishments.

A line of 100% cotton sheets was identified, available in solid or patterned versions, with 800-thread count weaving. These premium items, in King size, are priced at US$ 15, a competitive value for the luxury category.

For Queen-size beds, the market offers individual sheets for US$ 8. The variety of products extends to twin sheets, which started at US$ 6, with some items that previously cost US$ 7 going on promotion at a reduced price.

Still in the bedding sector, complete four-piece sets (sheet and pillowcases) are available. The King size set is sold at US$ 16, while the equivalent set for Queen size beds is offered at US$ 14. Twin sets, consisting of two pieces, sell for US$ 12.

One of the standout items in terms of cost-effectiveness for winter or hotel climate control is the Queen size comforter.

The product was found priced at US$ 15. Complementing the bed, standard pillows are sold for US$ 12, and children’s models with viscoelastic technology (“NASA” type) are marketed at US$ 5.

Professional Towels and Curtains with High Price Disparity

In the bath department, the trade in Ciudad del Este maintains stocks aimed at corporate and residential supplies.

The hospitality line features bath towels that have seen a price reduction from US$ 13 to US$ 11. For leisure areas, such as pools and resorts, there are specific towels that do not retain sand and have decorative designs, sold at US$ 12.

Face towels follow the low-price policy, essential for frequent replenishment in companies. Models from reputable brands can be found for US$ 4.

For the entry segment, focused on the lowest possible cost, there are face towel options for just US$ 1.50.

In the functional decor segment, curtains show a significant price difference compared to traditional Brazilian retail.

The Blackout model, used to block light in rooms, is sold for US$ 12. According to market comparisons, a similar product can cost around R$ 380 in Brazil. For large openings, 4-meter curtains are offered at US$ 17.

The table section also meets restaurant demands with tablecloths starting at US$ 2.50 and US$ 3.25.

Technical and Children’s Clothing in the Weighing System

The local business model includes the sale of textile products by weight, which drastically reduces the unit cost of lightweight items.

In the children’s sector, baby clothes are marketed at a base price of US$ 0.50. During a practical demonstration, a heavy children’s shorts on the scale registered a final cost of approximately R$ 1.90 (in direct conversion).

For adults and sports enthusiasts, the market offers men’s t-shirts in “dry fit” fabric priced between US$ 2.50 and US$ 3. Jackets made of the same technical material are priced at US$ 12.

In the women’s sector, sports shorts cost US$ 6, shirts sell for US$ 4, and leggings, depending on fabric thickness, are sold for US$ 2.84.

Seasonal products and accessories also make up the mix of offers. Single blankets range between US$ 3.20 and US$ 7.

With the end of the year approaching, themed Christmas towels have been made available starting at US$ 3. A unique item, a plush toy with an internal blanket, has a promotional price of US$ 6.50, set for clearance periods like Black Friday.
