The increase in Enel's accounts in Rio de Janeiro, approved by Aneel, will take effect from the next 15th (Monday)

Aneel approved yesterday (09), Tuesday, an average increase of 6,02% in the electricity bills of consumers of Enel Distribuição, in Rio de Janeiro. This increase will take effect on March 15. Commercial and residential users serving low voltage have an average adjustment rate of 4,63%, whereas industrial users powered by high voltage have an average adjustment rate of 10,38%.

Factors that led to the readjustment at Enel in Rio de Janeiro

Among the factors that affected the readjustment, Aneel highlighted the increase in the cost of energy from the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant and the reflection of the rise in the US dollar in recent months. According to the National Agency, the readjustment is modest due to the so-called “Covid account”, which requires the return of resources, which last year defined working capital limits for companies in the sector and can dampen consumer tariffs.
