New GWM SUV, Haval Jolion, Will Soon Arrive in the Brazilian Automotive Market Promising to Lead Sales in the Segment and Leave Toyota Corolla Cross Behind.

A new affordable mid-size SUV is arriving to try to steal the podium from the current segment leaders in Brazil. The GWM Haval Jolion will have the most competitive price in the segment, and this will be its greatest selling point. GWM is one of the automakers that promises to grow the most in the coming years in the Brazilian automotive market, and with only two products today, namely the Haval H6 and H6 GT SUVs, it has already shown it has the quality and technology to convince buyers.

The brand already has a factory in Brazil and will start national production this year, and the bet this time to kick off the Brazilian factory is the GWM Haval Jolion SUV, also known as H4, which will compete with models like Caoa Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, Toyota Corolla Cross, and others.

The sophisticated SUV is built on an extremely modern architecture that incorporates aluminum in a large part of its composition. As a result, it scored top marks in safety in Euro NCAP, the most demanding organization that assesses the real safety of cars.

New GWM SUV Scores Top Safety Ratings in Europe

The name of the GWM SUV varies depending on the automotive market where it is sold, being called Jolion in China and Europe, but here it will come as H4 in reference to its positioning below that of the H6 in Brazil. In dimensions, it measures 4.47 m in length, 2.70 m in wheelbase, 1.83 m in width, and 1.65 m in height, weighing 1521 kg and offering a generous 430 L of luggage space in the trunk.

The appearance of the GWM Haval Jolion positively grabs attention in the automotive market, and the car is very beautiful. In the front, there is a nice grille with some chrome fragments, the bumper features a gray appliqué and fake air intakes, and the entire optical assembly is full LED and adaptive.

On the sides, it features chrome window trim and accents, while the wheels are 18 inches with a diamond finish. Moving to the rear, the GWM SUV is very attractive and well-designed, with an integrated spoiler, gray appliqué on the bumper, and full LED taillights.

Like BYD, GWM has stated that all its products in Brazil will be electrified, whether hybrid or electric, and the new GWM Haval Jolion will not be different. The mechanical setup that the GWM SUV will use in the Brazilian automotive market is the 1.5 Turbo with 150 horsepower, paired with an additional electric motor at the rear. In this case, the car offers a combined 190 horsepower and 38.2 kgfm of torque, always associated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automated transmission and front-wheel drive.

New GWM SUV Delivers Excellent Fuel Efficiency with Ethanol

The performance of the GWM Haval Jolion is excellent for a conventional hybrid, and it outperforms a hybrid Corolla Cross and hybrid Tiggo 7 Pro. Another highlight is the excellent fuel consumption figures it can register, but it is worth emphasizing that the car will be a Flex hybrid here, meaning it will have lower emissions and running on ethanol, which in some states is much cheaper, allowing consumers to save even more. Inside, the new GWM SUV follows the modern and minimalist line of the other SUVs from the automaker.

The model is very contemporary and modern, and its finishing is excellent, using only high-quality materials.

The interior comfortably accommodates five adults, and in terms of equipment, it features items such as an electric adjustable driver’s seat with a massage function, keyless entry, electronic parking brake, rotary gear selector on the console, Auto Hold, wireless phone charging, dual-zone digital climate control, rear air vents, panoramic sunroof, premium sound system, multifunction steering wheel, configurable 10-inch digital display, and much more.

Did You Know That GWM Has a Factory in Brazil?

Great Wall Motors (GWM), one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in China, marked its significant entry into the Brazilian market with the announcement of acquiring a factory in Brazil. This strategic move highlights GWM’s growing interest in expanding its global presence, especially in emerging markets in Latin America, and Brazil, with its large consumer market and strategic position, presents itself as an ideal entry point.

The factory acquired by GWM in Brazil was formerly owned by Mercedes-Benz, located in the municipality of Iracemápolis, in the state of São Paulo. The transaction, announced in 2021, reflects GWM’s commitment to the Brazilian market and its confidence in the country’s growth potential in the vehicle segment. The choice of location is not only strategic from a logistical standpoint, given its proximity to important transportation routes and consumer markets, but also symbolic, highlighting the transfer of technology and innovation in the automotive sector of the country.

With the acquisition of this factory, GWM plans to introduce in Brazil and Latin America its lineup of vehicles, including SUVs, pickups, and eventually electric and hybrid vehicles, aligning with global trends toward sustainability and technological innovation. The initiative will not only boost the Brazilian automotive market with new options for consumers but also promises to generate jobs and foster local technological development.
