New BYD Electric Hatch e2 Has Lower Price In The Automotive Market And Now Costs Less Than A Fiat Mobi. The BYD e2 Costs Something Equivalent To R$ 62 Thousand In Direct Conversion And Promises To End Sales Of Rivals.
The price war in China continues. After making the Dolphin, Yuan Plus, and Dolphin Mini cheaper, BYD has outdone itself. The entry-level electric hatch e2 had its price cut by 12,900 yuan, around R$ 8,931, reaching a competitive R$ 62,241 (89,900 yuan). This is the first BYD electric car sold for less than 100,000 yuan in the automotive market, meaning about R$ 70,000.
Sold exclusively in the Chinese automotive market, the BYD e2 previously cost R$ 71,213 (102,800 yuan), but its price was dropped to a level lower than that of a ten-year-old Toyota Corolla used over there. Consequently, if sold in Brazil, in direct conversion, it would be cheaper than a Fiat Mobi or a Renault Kwid, which are currently the cheapest in Brazil.
With similar dimensions to the BYD Dolphin but with a much less exotic style, the BYD e2 is primarily marketed to companies. The model is equipped with a front electric motor of just 94 horsepower and LFP Blade type batteries that can allow the BYD electric hatch e2 to travel up to 405 km, according to the Chinese cycle, which is very optimistic.

Details Of The Design Of The BYD e2 Electric Hatch
Unlike the Dolphin, the BYD electric hatch e2 has a very conservative styling. The model has a front design that appears generic, where the headlights resemble those of Audi models, but connected by a black bar. The alloy wheels are small, and the wheel arches are marked by a strong crease. The rear features the brand’s typical interconnected taillights.
Originally developed for taxi services and ride-hailing apps, the rival to the Fiat Mobi is based on the new e-Platform 3.0 electric architecture, measuring 4.26 meters in length, 1.76 meters in width, 1.53 meters in height, and with a wheelbase of 2.61 meters (20mm longer than the previous model).
The new BYD e2 is sold in three versions: Standard, Comfort, and Top. The Standard version is the most basic but still comes equipped with several standard features, such as air conditioning, electric steering, power windows, a sound system with AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, among others.
New Rival Of The Fiat Mobi In The Automotive Market Delivers 95 Horsepower
The permanent magnet synchronous motor of the BYD electric hatch e2 generates 70 kW, equivalent to 95 horsepower and a torque of 18.3 kgfm, enough to achieve acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 130 km/h.
The BYD electric car, cheaper than the Fiat Mobi in the automotive market, is powered by a lithium iron phosphate battery pack with a capacity of 43.2 kWh and has a range of 405 km, as mentioned earlier.
The BYD e2 can be charged from a standard outlet in about 8 hours, or at a fast-charging station in approximately 40 minutes.
