Although it may be compared to a golf cart, this cheap electric car from Quantum Motors can efficiently transport three people and their luggage around the city.
An electric car manufacturer is redefining the concept of electric mobility. Quantum Motors, based in Bolivia’s capital, La Paz, has chosen its own path by building compact, minimalist, and affordable electric cars, setting itself apart from larger competitors. Its vehicles, designed for three occupants, exemplify the motto “less is more”.
Cheap Electric Car from Quantum Motors Is the Size of a Golf Cart
Although they can be compared in size to a golf cart, Quantum Motors vehicles fulfill the fundamental purpose of a car: to transport people and their luggage around the city efficiently. With space for a driver and one passenger in a tandem configuration, the compact electric car can reach top speeds of 56 km/h.

Equipped with a 6.3 kWh lithium battery, the car can travel up to 80 km on a single charge. The recharging process is simple and convenient, allowing for home or on-the-go charging using a standard electrical outlet and Level 1 charging system. In addition to efficiency and practicality, the modest model offers an additional appeal: it is a very cheap electric car for what it offers, approximately R$ 35 thousand in direct conversion to Brazilian currency, or US$ 7.5 thousand according to the website Electrek.

While much of the industry rushes to automate production, Rolls-Royce takes over 600 hours to hand-build each car in Goodwood and still accepts orders so complex that they can take up to four years to be completed.

Smaller than the Model Y, lighter, with a single motor and designed to cost less than the current Model 3, Tesla’s new compact electric SUV is born in China and could seal the automaker’s return to the race for mass-market electric vehicles.

Kawasaki took the technology from its most brutal racing bikes, squeezed it into a 400cc 4-cylinder engine that revs to 15,000 RPM, and created the ZX-4R, a machine that shouldn’t exist in this displacement but is making experienced riders rethink everything they thought they knew about mid-range motorcycles.

The culture of cars that jump on the asphalt was born in the garages of Mexicans in the 1940s, was treated as a crime in the United States for decades, and has now become an official postage stamp of the American Postal Service in a twist that no one expected.
Compact Is the New Big
Quantum Motors’ decision to invest in smaller and more compact vehicles may seem unusual, especially when considering the trend of increasing car sizes in recent years. However, the tiny stature is actually a significant advantage in many countries. José Carlos Márquez, general manager of Quantum Motors, clarified:
“Electric mobility will soon be predominant globally, but it will have different characteristics depending on the region. While Tesla dominates in several countries with its high-speed autonomous cars, in Latin America, vehicles will be more compact, as the streets are more similar to those of cities like Mumbai and New Delhi than those in California, in the United States, for example.”
Quantum Motors Has Already Sold 350 Units of the Compact Electric Car
Quantum Motors, which was founded just four years ago, has already made significant progress. It has sold 350 of these cheap electric cars in its domestic market in Bolivia and expanded its sales to neighboring countries Peru and Paraguay. The emerging automaker has ambitious plans, including the inauguration of a factory in Mexico to boost production.

While larger electric vehicles are common in North America, Asian and South American countries, including Brazil, are exploring smaller alternatives. Companies like Wings EV from India are also developing compact electric vehicles that can navigate urban streets just as easily as a motorcycle, offering the protection of a car.
With the entry of new companies into the electric microcar market, there may be a significant increase in the adoption of this type of cheap electric car. Quantum Motors and other companies are leading this transformation, redefining sustainable mobility and offering solutions suitable for different geographical and infrastructural realities.
