Vale Gás May Free Some Regions From The Increase In Cooking Gas Prices
In May, the government began distributing aid to low-income individuals who are struggling to purchase the product that has become more expensive in recent months.
The name of the program from the Government is known as Vale Gás. The program has already started providing access to aid for the states of Maranhão and Ceará. The proposal for this program had been discussed by the Government since March. Its author was Senator Paulo Paim (PT-RS), who stated that the program would face some obstacles, such as the fluctuating price of cooking gas in different regions.
Petrobras Announcement
In a statement, the oil company said: “It is important to strengthen Petrobras’ position in an attempt to avoid the immediate pass-through of external volatility caused by circumstantial events to domestic prices. Our prices always seek to balance the international market and consistently follow the variations in the exchange rate and product values.”
Thus, Petrobras made it clear that the changes passed on to refineries differ from those received by consumers at retail. This happens because cooking gas is subject to federal and state taxation before reaching the consumer, in addition to costs with resellers and distributors.
